Is it possible....

Dont feed the trolls.

Nice timing Kevin ... I wrote a pretty nasty reply to wdwowner which I have now deleted and won't post... Doesn't matter what we say he is very negative and jealous of everything you and the gang stand for and nothing will ever change that...

BTW - Who wants Kool-aid??

It's actually very sad that this consumes so much of a troll's existence.

Just use your IGNORE button.

Cake, Kool-aid... and ignore!

Why did I bother to click on this thread... :confused3

that the tone on the boards have changed due to all of the negative tone and rants in the podcast itself? I really can't think of an entire show lately that has not have a good deal of negative tones towards WDW and Disney as a company.

Let's see, every week WDW is being taken to task for doing something wrong in the eyes of the podcast crew. WDW management is being called names because of the way they are doing business. The only positive food reviews lately have been restaurants outside of WDW. Acquisitions have been made by the company to fill a gap it believes it is missing only to have the blame pushed to the wrong business segment of the company. There are many more examples too.

You would think if someone really loved going to a place soooo much they would go multiple times a year, or that they would build a business around their favorite thing in the world that instead of beating it down every chance they get they would bring out the good side as much as possible, but still say 'Hey you screwed up on that one' when it is called for without belittling and name calling.

There are times that I want to yell out 'If you think you can do better that they are doing, quit your day job and go work for WDW and see how things are on the other side of the fence'.

When someone is sick with cancer or any medical situation every single medical person will tell you, 'a positive attitude will go much further than a negative attitude'. I bet the same thing will work for the boards, but it does start with the podcast itself.

There is no way I should join into this thread but then fools rush in . . .

I have been listening to the podcast for well over two years and my perception as to whether the "tone" of it has changed is very different from yours. The gang has never sugarcoated their views of WDW. That is not to say I agree that "every week" they take WDW "to task for doing something wrong." The reason I (and I suspect others, just read Skip's post from month or so back) listen to the DisUnplugged is precisely because they say what it on their mind. In today's over-marketed society, it is rare to find folks who do that.

I also find it inaccurate to say that the podcast crew is "beating [WDW] down every chance they get." Pete and the others regularly and consistently say when, in their view, WDW does something well. Just this last podcast (10/21/09), Pete strongly disagreed with Kevin and John on the quality and quantity of the food at Food and Wine.

Perhaps, as you suggest, DU could (at least in the short term) drive up its business by painting nothing but a rosy picture of all things Disney. (Just think of the "happy little crab cake".) I think what DU has done, however, is pure genius. Folks today are begging for sincerity and, to my thinking, that is what sets this group apart from any other podcasts or any other travel agency.
