Is it possible to walk from the GF to the Polynesian ?

Soon we wil be staying a few nights at the GF. Looking forward to that, even with all the negative things about the GF on this boards lately.
We would like to have a meal at Kona Cafe when we are there.
Is it possible to walk or do we have to take the monorail?

If you have read the complaint threads then you know I have been assigned the title of Grand Floridian Defender.

Yes you can walk. Just go out the main back door, hang a right, go past the pool with slide, past the spa, the wedding chapel and right to the Polynesian. It is a lovely walk, unless it is really hot or raining. If either I would ride the monorail over, so you will not be soaked for dinner, and walk back.

Enjoy your stay, and may you find the magic there we always do.

We have walked to the GF to Poly as well, its little of a long walk, but its really nice scenery and all.

Hi: It is a nice walk, along the walkway with the bricks dedicated to people's anniversaries, weddings, birthdays etc. It is 5 to l0 min.

The walk is very pleasant I think. If you're lucky you'll see the Cinderella glass coach outside the Wedding Chapel with its horses and horsemen

I have stayed at the GF 8 times and never had a bad experience. It is beautiful and tons of fun. Very much in the middle of the Magic! I feel confident you will enjoy it immensely!

There is also a resort boat, which I would take over the monorail if you decide not to walk. The monorail going to the Poly will take you completely around the loop (MK, CR, TTC, Poly). The resort boat launch goes right from GF to Poly and then to MK back to GF.

So if you decide not to walk, take the boat to the Poly and then monorail back to GF.

It's a nice walk and doesn't take more tham 10 minutes at the max. We do it all the time. Last year my husband couldn't sleep one night, so he walked over to GF and listened to the musicians playing.
You may even see a wedding pulling up at the pavilllion.

Walking is definately faster than taking the monorail. You can also stop by the wedding pavillion on your way and check it out. They let us go inside and look around, since a wedding wasn't going on until later that afternoon.

Kona is wonderful..we have had breakfast and lunch there.

We haven't planned much this time. This is going to be a relaxing vacation.
Only a lot of ADRs, so we are going to relax and eat
We still have to decide what meal (breakfast,lunch or dinner) we are going to have at Kona Cafe, but it's nice to know we can walk from the GF.
Don't think my boyfriend (I call him husband all the time, because we are living together for 10 years now) is interested in the Wedding Pavillion He wants to get married in Las Vegas. When you're from Europe, that's a cool thing to do. Maybe not if you're living in the US.

I would take the boat from GF to Poly. It is a pleasant trip.

I have only stayed at the GF once and loved it. Every trip though I make sure to visit the hotel at least a couple of times. One of my favorite things to do when visiting is to walk over to the Poly. It is one of my favorite walks in all of WDW. Best thing - the path is never crowded.

I also suggest you check out the wedding pavillion, great view of the castle from inside.

BTW, my wife and I got married in Vegas and had a blast. The ceremony was performed by Elvis (the real one). However, getting married in Vegas by Elvis was my wife's idea. So I keep telling her that we will renew our vows at 10 years during a trip to WDW. This time it will be Mickey at the wedding (maybe they can put Stitch in his Elvis costume).

Don't let the negative talk about GF discourage you. I have also seen a lot of positive comments too. I started a thread last week after my return and there were several other DIS'ers there at the same time I was and everyone on that thread posted a positive experience at GF. Have a great trip!!

I thought it was a nice walk and I enjoyed reading all the walkway bricks on the way over to the Poly.
