Is It Possible To See Wdw From The Air??

Then, on my once-in-a-lifetime trip with my Mom in March, her eagle eyes spotted it all on our approach to MCO. TOT and The Contemporary are the things she noticed first. :goodvibes By the way, we were coming from Cincinnati.

She also spotted the hidden Mickey in the Germany train display, too.
<insert astonished voice> From the Plane???? She IS good!!!

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2:
Just kiddin'!!!

We have seen it twice on takeoff. The first time, DH was sitting in the window seat and had the camera bag under the seat in front of him. We got a perfect view and actually saw all the parks.
DH, though, was fast asleep and by the time I woke him enough to get the camera out to take pictures, it was too late. :sad2:

After that, DH did not get the window seat any more, no matter how much he begged to sit there. :worship: :love2: :guilty: :worship:

The next time we were leaving Orlando, the pilot said we were flying over WDW  :cool1:
, but............

there were clouds, covering almost the whole area, so I couldn't see anything, :sad2: :bitelip: :sad2:
but I did have the window seat :flower:
and the camera. :flower:
I just couldn't see anything besides clouds.

We had a late flight this past June and our flights home are ALWAYS delayed but this time I was sooooooo happy since we took off right as WISHES started and we were able to see most of it before the plane turned and we couldn't watch any longer!!!!!!!!! It was SOOOOOO cool!!! :cool1: :teeth: :cloud9:

On approach one night, a pilot said on the PA that if you were on the left hand side of the plane, you could see the Epcot fireworks. Only problem was that this was at about 10:05pm on a night that Illuminations was at 9. I was on the left, looked out, and it was Wishes. (yes, I've seen both shows enough to know which show is which just based on a 2-second glimpse from an airplane window)

We had this happen several years ago as well - must be the same pilot LOL - we had been delayed in Atlanta so of course we were disappointed in getting in so late but as we were coming over the area the pilot announced if you looked a certain way you could see Illuminations...it was just after 10 so I knew it was the MK fireworks but how cool it was!

Thanks, ricktib, for the cool pics! :Pinkbounc

And thanks for the explanation to the FAA . . . I was wondering how you got that shot! :flower:

You usually don't fly over Disney when you land or take off at MCO. When we were coming home a few weeks ago, the captain told us we were taking a different flight pattern and that we might be able to see Disney one last time. Sure enough, there was Spaceship Earth.

OR you could take a helocopter ride over Disney World. The fly at about 1000 feet over everything except MK. That you have to see from a distance. Best money I ever spent. What a Hoot!!

 :smooth: :wave2:

When I was there in the mid 90's, we rode this:

And when you were up at the top (over 300 feet), you could catch a glimpse of WDW. Of course, I wasn't thinking too much about the Mouse as I was suspended 300 feet in the air by a cable...LOL!!!

If I stand on my tiptoes and squint real hard, I can see WDW from my driveway - ah, the stuff dreams are made of!! :cloud9:

We flew in yesterday -- no luck. So maybe when we leave next week......?

We look all the time too. Never have seen it though.

We did take a helicopter ride in 2002 directly over DTD and Epcot. I don't know how they did that. They must have some special permit or something w/ the no fly zone restrictions.
