Hey all you crafty DIY brides out there!

I was looking to see if someone could help me out with a question. I am totally in love with this precious moments figure as our cake topper.

BUT, DF is def not blonde, he has very dark hair... So, is it possible to paint dark hair on this?? I don't want to order it if not, but it is so flipping cute!

Any advice would be much appriciated:goodvibes
Thanks Ladies!

I think it's possible. What I would do is take blue painters tape (the kind for taping baseboards etc. when painting your house that isn't very sticky) and carefully tape all around the hair line so you don't accidentally get any dark paint on the face. Just make sure to get paint that is for ceramic/porcelain pieces. HTH

I read in MrsDisneyB2B's pj that she is planning to pain the hair on a couple of figurines. You should talk to her. I don't know if there is a special paint to use.

The figurine is adorable and would be so cute as your cake topper.

ahhh crafty Jenny! I know she is the queen of DIY, I think her's are glazed though... she would still probably know I swear she knows hoe to do everything :thumbsup2 Thanks!

I think Precious Moments are made out of bisque if I'm not wrong. Here's a guide on how to paint bisque with acrylic paint.

What I would do is buy one of the cheap Precious Moments figurines on Ebay (I see a few at .99 cents and free shipping) and try painting on that before you buy the topper.

Just my two cents - HTH Sam! :goodvibes

Good call! I just ordered one off of Ebay to play around with. If anyone is interested in a once blonde, soont o be brunette angel holding the letter "V" afterwards its all yours! Good call Meg! I will play around with it and see if I can do it... I figure its not glazed at all so it should be ok:confused3, the guide is perfect btw thanks!:goodvibes

I'd probably use a "dry brush" technique to do this. You basically dip the paintbrush in a little bit of paint and "paint" on a piece of newsprint until the brush is practically dry. Then you start painting the surface. It is a bit translucent and just "blends in" with the original paint. That way mistakes would be less noticeable.

And I definitely agree . . . use painter's tape and practice on a cheapie figurine first! :thumbsup2

Just wanted to say I agree with them and my mom's name starts with V so if it looks ok after you play around with it... :rotfl2:, feel free to send it my way!

Congratulations on getting married. I was wondering how the painting of the precious moments figurine's hair went? I LOVE precious moments and bought a cake topper... but I have black hair... so I wanted to paint it. Did it work for you? If so, what paint did you use?
Thanks! Happy Holidays!
