Is it possible to obtain a receipt when using points

Another trick I've learned (I try not to lose $$$ if I can help it) is to buy air or register for next years conference and go ahead and turn it in on this years $$$.

Unfortunately this would not work for me because I am not able to turn in receipts until I provided them with proof of attendance or completion of the course.

I never thought of but like both options here. I can extend my stay but I would have to change the time of year I go. We like going in May which means the girls have to miss 5 days of school. I wouldn't want them to miss any more time than that.

The 1 bedroom/1 studio would work if I can get a 2 bedroom lock off but what are the chances of them allowing me to use points for one and cash for the other AND guaranteeing that they would be next to each other (i.e. 2 bedroom lock off)?

We often do a studio with DVC and a1bedroom through RCI and they are always setup as a 2bedroom lock off. I link them through DVC as early as possible

Don't get a specialty view or difficult to get booking cat and do cash through DVC which will technically be a points room so combining is easier and less risky. Just tell them what you want to do and make the proper requests. There are many ways to approach this, I started to make a list of varying possibilities but then stopped feeling you'd gotten enough ideas to combine with your situation. Another option is a regular room with free dining if the time of year works. This year I'm doing 2 meetings, the same next year, to get ahead of time and money somewhat. How strict are they on the timing? Will they allow you a travel day each direction even if the meeting starts evening and ends at lunch?

That is exactly what I did this past May but it was for 30% off instead of free dining. The time is not a problem, everything just gets lumped together as PTO time.

The 2 bedroom lock-off actually is the best solution. If/when I decide to use my Disney trip as my conference time that is how I am going to do it.

Great advice everyone....thank you!
