Is it possible to have a WP only option, or is a reception absolutely necessary?

Unfortunately, no. Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings makes the real money off the reception, so you are required to meet food and beverage minimums (and now "enhancement" minimums) in order to have a Wishes Collection event. If you can get your guest list down to 18 (and don't forget, the response rate for a destination wedding hovers around 50%), you could do an Escape Collection event at the Wedding Pavilion and have your reception anywhere you want. A catered reception at the Swan & Dolphin starts around $5,000.

If it helps, a Wishes wedding at the Wedding Pavilion for 40 people under the new pricing structure would range from $14,000 to $21,000 (before tax and service charge) depending on day of the week and time of day.
