Is it possible to book to dinner reservations for the same day

Just curious since my friend cannot decide between 2 restaurants upon arrival and is planning to make reservations at 2 different restuarants for the same night and hopefully decide by the end of next week which one they want to keep and cancel the other. I told her I didn't think you could do that but she is insisting that she can. Any thoughts??

Not a 100% sure but since everything is on the computer I would think they will probably know that you all ready have a ress.

I've seen numerous posts about this on here and basically, this practice is very much frowned upon. If she uses the same information to make a reservation at two different places at the same time, it's likely that both reservations will be deleted. She should just make up her mind now and make a single reservation. It's really not fair to others to lock up a time slot that will ultimately not get used, even if it's locked up for just a short amount of time.

Those were my thoughts exactly. I know when I booked my ADR they asked for my address & phone # so I am sure they have a way of tracking this info!!

I agree 110 % with the OP . She should make up her mind. It's only fair.

If she changes her mind, it is worth calling to see if there is an opening. Sometimes there can be, especially if you are flexible about dining time. DW and I like to eat early. We have gotten same day reservations several times at places such as Marakesh, Biergarten, 50s Prime Time, Hollywood & Vine.
