Thanks for the info Jody. That makes sense. The package price I was quoted is basically the rates you linked to, plus tax, including a 3 day park hopper.
So for our July timeframe Disneyland Hotel room only would be about $522 less 10%, or $470 a night (plus a couple bucks for tax). Still more than I'd be willing to spend, but an AP would save me about $55 a night. The AP would cost be about $70 more than the hopper. Probably not worth it to go through the AP and room only purchase trouble for a $40 savings. The convenience of the package is probably worth a little extra.
Compared to the WDW resorts the Paris resorts do seem rather expensive for what you get. You know what they say........location, location, location. Still not sure what we'll do.
As for that GF comparison, for the same July dates we are looking at the GF would be about $420 a night including tax. With a much nicer character breakfast thrown on it would still be cheaper per night than the Disneyland Hotel rates in Paris are for room only or a package less the cost of the tickets. As mentioned, discounts are much more common in WDW so you'd very likely pay less with a little leg work. So Paris is more expensive and offers less discounts. I'm curious as to what the occupancy rates are at the Disneyland Hotel. Most people consider rack rate at the GF to be waaaaayyyyyyy too expensive. I wonder of the DLP rates are prohibitive. Of course if occupancy rates are high the answer would be no. However, given the financial troubles DLP has been in I wonder how full the resorts really are.
