Is it only my wife who takes

Wife, no problem.

Kids, that's a whole different story. And they're 19 and 23.

It takes me an hour to get ready to go to places like church or meetings. If I'm just going anywhere, I don't care and it can take me 20 minutes, including shower. I have to blow dry and straighten my hair though because it's a frizzy mess if I leave it along and have to put a ponytail holder in it.

I'm not overly concerned about how people perceive me, I think I have a decent enough self esteem to not have to spend more than 45 minutes getting ready. Usually it's only 20. But that doesn't include a shower because I usually take one at night. Most of my time getting ready though is spend watching the news or something else on TV, so really, my actual time is only about 5-10 minutes.

The only time I've taken more than an hour was for formal events like school dances, weddings, and the like.

Ok, you two are evil pod people. :rotfl2: I'm notoriously slow also. It takes me 20 mins to shower and brush teeth, then definitely 20 mins hair detail. I have short thick hair. hot curlers and styling definite 20 mins.

I'm a happy camper if I can get done in 1 hour, throw in a special occasion and I'm at 90 mins easy.

I have to get up on workdays @ 4:30 am to be out the house at 5:30.

If I have to rush, I can be showered, blow dried, dressed, with makeup in 15mins.:lmao:

Some of you need better blow dryers, maybe?:confused3

I will say that I got a blow dryer that you can put on some "feature" and man it dries you hair fast. What a huge difference.

Now of course I do not flat iron or curl my hair. And recently I got it cut so my hair is dry in 3-5 minutes.

Now of course if I want to take my time, I certainly can spend a leisurely hour getting ready. Esp., if I am going to a special event.

Or maybe it is the radio I have blaring that makes me go faster.;)

Well you sure as heck wouldn't be "waiting" for me.. My clothes would have been laid out the night before; would have either showered the night before or first thing in the morning (after my coffee, of course ;) ) - plenty of time before I had to head out the door..

Actual "getting ready"? Probably 10 minutes tops.. I don't wear make-up and have a simple, short hair style that I just have to run a brush through..

If it took me as long as it takes your wife, I'd be too tired to go! LOL..:rotfl:

Have you tried Moroccan Oil for your hair? It's a life saver!

My daughter has kinky curly hair too. Looks good when it's wet but as soon as it starts to dry, it's a frizzy mess. Moroccan Oil has worked wonders for her. When she straightens it, it's silky smooth. The rare times she leaves it curly (almost never), the oil makes it look soft.

I haven't tried it because my hair isn't frizzy, but I wonder if it might help in any way. I've thought about trying it..........

:scared1: I LOVE my blowdryer!!! I don't use it to just dry my hair though. I dry AND straighten my hair with it so that adds time. the flat iron just smooths everything out and makes it nice and shiny and sleek. It also helps keep it straight for a longer time when I go out into the humidity.

I'm always waiting on my dh. Sat. morning for example, ds's soccer game was at 10:30am and we left at 10:22am. I had filled the water bottle, dressed the boy (he's 5 and the shin guards are hard to get on) packed the chairs, filled the to go coffee cups (creamer and sweetner) for both him and me, had switched the booster seat to dh's car and buckled in the boy and was sitting in the car when dh walked out the door at 10:22. The week before we showed up at a birthday party at 1:30 when it started at 1:00 because I was waiting for dh to shave and shower after working out. It's definitely not just women who can take forever getting ready!

I personally never understood the whole ritual of spending so much time doing ones hair or putting on make up. Most days I can be out the door in 30 mins, including a shower, getting dressed, putting on a bit of makeup, and drying my hair. Even when I was in high school I would rather sleep a bit longer then get up to spend so much time getting ready.

Now, if it is a special event (wedding, dance back during high school, ect), I would take a bit longer. But it has NEVER taken me over an hour to get ready. Never.

Well, I have a routine that takes me about 2 hours during the week. Get a glass of water and work out - takes about 30 minutes. Eat breakfast - takes about 15 minutes. Shower & brush teeth - takes about 20 minutes. Get dressed, put on makeup & dry hair - 20 minutes. The last few minutes is dragging DS 10 out of bed, waiting for him to dress & brush his teeth, grab our bags & head to the door. Yes, I attempt to wake him up as soon as I get up and several times during my routine but he just doesn't understand the concept of us both getting ready at the same time, and I can't hover over him while I'm doing my own routine :-( If necessary I will skip the workout and drink a protein shake for breakfast instead of taking the time to eat a bowl of cereal, etc.

As for DH, he can get up and be out the door in 20 minutes. If we have to go somewhere he often waits around until I am actually ready before he starts to get ready :-(

I get up at 4:30 (or 4:40 this morning), pack my lunch, shower, dress, maybe do my hair (not this morning) and I'm out the door. I'll toss on a light coat of makeup at the office. I'm out the door by 5 a.m. M-F. I can do 15 minutes if I need to on a weekend. I'm so busy that fixing my hair and putting on a coat of makeup has slid to the back burner unfortunately. :sad2:

This morning because of this thread, I decided to make a note of how long it took. From the moment I put my contacts in while sitting on the edge of the bed, to the moment I walked downstairs completely ready to go, it was exactly 1 hour. No dawdling, no kids to take care of, didn't make my husband's lunch...just purely getting myself ready was one hour. I took my shower, brushed my teeth, put on my makeup, blow dried my hair, got dressed, put on perfume, and walked downstairs.

It may have taken me an hour but I feel a LOT better about myself than the days where I scrunch my hair with some gel and slap on two seconds of half hearted makeup. For me, it is worth it to get my day going in a manner where I feel pretty and confident. But, no one is waiting on me either. If no one is waiting on you, it shouldn't matter how long you take. Now if someone were waiting on me, I could NEVER take 2 hours like the OP's wife.

Mine isn't really frizzy either, but it's curly and will go all over the place. This stuff just makes it so soft and touchable. I buy the off brand version at Sally's Beauty, but my stylist uses the real stuff on me and they both work the same.

Agreed. I can get ready in about 30 minutes if I want too, but I really don't want too, so I get up earlier and take my time. Like I said before, no one ever waits for me, can't stand being late.

Takes me back a bit. My late father was a punctuality nut (and a bit of a domestic tyrant)--and no one kept him waiting. Ever. He was the lone male in the household with four women and only one complete bathroom (two powder rooms). We learned to move fast, we had a few minutes in the bathroom, and then we had better be out, or be able to shift to a powder room. By the time dad was ready to go someplace, everyone else had to be ready! It was a true feat of organization on my mother's part.

This thread & especially your post reminded me of the "A.I.S." episode on "Everybody Loves Raymond". :goodvibes When it is time to leave, your "A.." had better be "In" "Seat" or you get left! Frank Barone's rule!! :rotfl2:

As for me, I can take anywhere from 10- 90 mins to get ready. Grocery store: 10 mins for a little mascara & light hair style. Usual work day 70 mins, hair, little more make up, iron my clothes, eat something, pack a lunch. Valentine's / anniversary dinner at a nice restaurant- shower, blow dry & style hair, full make up with foundation (don't usually wear it) jewelry, grab a different purse 90 mins.

:offtopic: It's interesting hearing everybody's hair needs. Mine is fine, straight & no volume (don't have that much) & FLAT. When I wake up it just looks scraggly. I shower at night, but I have to wet my hair down in the AM & blow dry just so it looks a little decent. I am the only person I know who LOVES my hair in the Florida humidity....it actually looks like it has volume & body. :goodvibes I get it cut & colored every 6 weeks with an excellent stylist, but still can't do anything with it.
