Is it okay to put family first? (Response to royal family stuff)

1st half of 2020:
Harry & Meghan: "We want our financial independence! We're moving to Santa Barbara! The castle is a prison! Freedom!"

September 2020:
Prince Charles: "Your wish is my command. No more allowance for you."
Harry & Meghan: "Woo hoo! $150M from Netflix! Show me the money, baby!"

March 2021:
Harry & Meghan: "Check out our cool chicken coop on our $10M Montecito estate. We are so oppressed. Harry's dad cut us off! Can you believe the nerve of that man?"

Prince Charles: "You asked for it."

The Queen: "Listen, grandson, knock it off with your revisionist history. I'm, like, over 90 years old and I'm too old for you to go whining to that billionaire Oprah about how hard it is to be a prince & princess. Try being the queen of all of ENGLAND for literally DECADES. I've dealt with the likes of Winston Churchill and 12 US presidents. Suck it up, buttercup. Get a grip. Love ya bunches. Love, Gran."

Meghan didn't "turn Piers down", as he wasn't asking her for anything. They were friendly acquaintances for about a year, and then she suddenly dropped him right after getting involved with Prince Harry. If you've researched Meghan Markle, you know she has a pattern of abruptly dropping and ghosting people, both friends and family.

Because of his personal experience with her, he always saw her as a social climber and untrustworthy, although he was still supportive of her during the engagement period, before she disowned her father right before the wedding because he made a poor choice dealing with the paparazzi.

Ok. Granted Daily Pop is a guilty pleasure type of show like the tabloids. Yet when I heard it today, I was like wait what? What did you guys just say?

That's when his criticism of her began. Before the wedding, you can see lots of GMB & other interview clips of Piers saying that Meghan will probably be a good thing for Harry & the royal family, despite the fact even then he mentioned that she had ghosted him.
Ok, keep telling yourself that 🤣

This. Friendly acquaintances, not quite up there with friends, but seemingly on very good terms. Then she ghosted him, as she’s done to many others. Yes, he’s a bit insistent about what he sees as her true character, but I think he’s mostly stunned that everyone can’t see it.

Nope. They are at the checkout at every grocery store. And we have TMZ, which is the TV version. Where do you think all of the conspiracy nutters came from?
It's interesting, but U.S. and U.K. tabloids are very different. U.K. tabloids are a lot like People Magazine or Entertainment Weekly, in that they focus mostly on personalities, particularly royalty and celebrity & their relationships, and are big on exaggeratedly dramatic headlines, but they do have journalistic standards for accurate reporting. Whereas U.S. tabloids are notorious for making stories up out of thin air.

Depends on what "tabloid" means. It's supposed to mean smaller format newspapers, but American media has a lot of gossip rags that include newspapers and of course these days a lot of online media including blogs. I haven't seen an actual supermarket checkout lane tabloid in years. Decades ago I could reliably count on seeing National Enquirer and Weekly World News.

I think the magazines had journalistic standards to some degree. But then National Enquirer went for absolute sensationalism and questionable sources.

I used to see some small format magazines that would focus on the British royal family.

I just have a wonky meter for Meghan. She appears to be a very domineering type of personality. I think it's a little odd that Meghan is on the outs with most of her family and now Harry is.
This is classic controlling behavior by a spouse. Start by charming the person, being the answer to all their prayers. Check. Then gradually isolate them from friends and family. Check. Move onto geographical isolation, if possible. Check. Have a victim persona so that if their support ever starts to waver due to your questionable behavior, you can utilize their guilt & pity to keep them at your side. Check. Then you know you are fully in control because they've given up so much to stay with you, that without you they sense they really wouldn't have anything. Check.

If the sexes were reversed and this was a man who had alienated a woman from her family and convinced her to give up her work, move across the ocean & cut ties publicly in such a scorched earth way, I think fewer people would have fallen for the act. People everywhere would be shouting, "Red flag!", Red flag!", "Wake up, girlfriend!" But because it's a beautiful pregnant woman, wearing a $5,000 dress with professional hair & make-up, and speaking ever so softly, people fall for it.

I love Stephen Colbert and he is hilarious here on the Harry Meghan interview.
Colbert is always hilarious.

As a side note, this video was the first time I've seen any of the interview. It doesn't appear to me that Meghan has had enhancements. It looks like baby weight to me. I puffed up like that, when I was pregnant. I also don't see anything wrong with her makeup. I do agree that Harry seemed very uncomfortable, when Oprah asked him about the racist claim.

Meghan Markle’s former Suits co-star criticised the Sussexes yesterday for staging an interview while the world is in the ‘throes of death’.

Wendell Pierce, who worked with Meghan for four years in his role as her character’s father, said the broadcast was ‘insignificant’ as Covid death tolls continued to rise.

The 57-year-old told radio station LBC: ‘Today 3,000 people are going to die in America from Covid.

‘A couple of hundred people are going to die, even this hour, in the UK.’

Despite praising the former actress in the past, Pierce criticised Prince Harry and Meghan for the interview, saying it evoked Shakespeare’s phrase ‘full of sound and fury signifying nothing’.

The actor, who said he had not spoken to the duchess since 2019, added: ‘It was quite insensitive and offensive that we are all complicit in this sort of palace… gossip in the midst of so much death. I think it is insignificant.’

Asked who he included in this criticism, he said ‘everyone’ including Oprah, US network CBS, ITV, Prince Harry and Meghan, and the Palace.

I dunno. Maybe more reliable than other sources. 🤣

Someone who gets it. They apparently don't see how tone deaf it all is.
