from the food court? I'm thinking about getting breakfast from the counter service place at CR and AKL while others are getting ready to save some time. Will they let you take a tray to the room or package it so it will make the trip ok? I figured it would be easier to keep the kids in the room instead of "running around" the food court in the morning and DH and I could everything ready for the park while they eat. Just wasn't sure if it's considered tacky or against the rules or something like that. Thanks

Yes, it is okay. I wouldn't consider it tacky.

Don't know about the two hotels your are in, but we've stayed in the values and the mods and they have "to-go" containers. It's not unusual for one of us to head to the food court while the other one gets ready for the day. It saves time and there are certainly no rules about eating food in your room.

People do it all the time. I personally never took the tray too, but have seen others.

and then leave the tray outside the room and the housekeepers pick them up and put them on the carts. We have had big pizzas and spaghetti dinners to go and brought them into the rooms......that is why the to go pkgs are there too...

Lots of people did it at the Polynesian also!! I even did dinner "to go", it was such a nice break eating dinner in our room, dd8 vegged out on the bed, kinda naptime before a late night park...

We stayed at the Poly last year and often went to the food court for late night burger and fries which we happily brought bach to our room no questions asked. Enjoy your trip.

Sure it's OK. A few helpful tips- Grab extra napkins, "just in case" and make sure you have all the utensils and condiments you'll need so you don't need to make a second trip.

As we were packing up to head home at the Poly, I rode on the elevator with a guy bringing a tray full of scrambled eggs, bacon and OJ back up to his room. Slapped myself in the head and wondered "Why didn't I think of that?"

It looked great and nobody cares in the least!

If you are really smart, you buy your breakfast and snack items outside the park. We usually bring in muffins, bagels, fruit, cold cereal, and a cooler with milk, soda and beer. I've even used the microwave ovens in the food court to cook my own hot dogs.

We eat cheep with our own food in the room on some days, so we can spurge at a restaurant another day.

It's taboo to cook in the room, but eating is just fine. :earsboy:

We've done that at CBR and ASMo both, and I noticed several of the food court trays being carried back to the food court, so others must do it too. It's easier for us if one adult gets ready and then goes down to get breakfast and bring it back while the other adult gets themselves ready and helps the kiddos too....

We've done it at both POFQ and POR and it seems like we always see others doing the same thing! Yes mousekeeping will return trays to the food court. Unless you're going back out, then we take it back ourselves.

AKL has to-go packaging. I got some tandoori chicken pizza when we were there in May and the CM even asked me if it was to go. They expect that from their customers; no biggie.

Thanks for all the replies. I will be doing this for our breakfasts at least to save time (and my sanity) in the morning.

The cashier can give you a big paper bag to carry stuff back in. When we are at CBR I am usually the one to go on the nightly snack run, I just get the food, pack it in a bag and then walk back or take the internal shuttle back. Last year my 3 nieces and sister was with us (connecting rooms) and I had to bring back a feast for all of us, but my two little helpers came with and we made it back with everything in tact and it was full meals like chicken alfredo etc....PLUS drinks! Have fun! :goodvibes

We always bring food to the room to eat, in the am as well as sometimes for lunch or dinner. But.... Please, do not put your trays outside your door! I really don't want to see what you had left over, or watch someone accidentaly step on your tray, or... worse yet, have some toddler pick up something off your tray. Just one of my pet peeves. It may have worked many years ago when service was different than these days and there were CM's who would walk through looking for such things. Now if you leave it out it will not be picked up until the next day's Mousekeeping service.

I have to agree, keep your tray in your room if you aren't walking it back to the food court. (Personally, I'm always afraid it would attract bugs or animals!) The few times we were all too beat to go make the return, we left it on the table in our room and mousekeeping has taken care of it. Of course, we take care ($) of mousekeeping too! :goodvibes

We ordered pizza in the room and I ended up taking the trash to a large can near the quiet pool because I was concerned that leaving it outside the door like others do might attract "critters" (particularly skunks...are they even around there?).
