Is it ok for "runners" to really run?

Although I'm sure Hound wants you to follow through on your plan out of curiousity, reading his post made me really think about it. Honestly, I'd try Nemo earlier, then head over to IJ to simply ride it once the whole park opens. Or have Indy on a non-MM day, getting there early and heading there. Most people "turn right" and go to Tomorrowland...the no-MM people go to Nemo or Fantasyland, others go to space, etc...I've never had a problem turning left and going to Adventureland very first thing on a non-MM day!

I agree with this...we were there last week and went to New Orleans Square right off (hoping for some beignets :))...we rode Pirates and literally walked right on and had the whole boat to ourselves. We spent the morning on that side of the park and almost walked right on to everything. Later in the day there were longer waits all around the park, but first thing it wasn't so bad in AL/FL/NO Square area

We don't have a designated runner, er, fast walker. We all go! :rotfl: My boys are teens and we can get there at a good pace and still be together. And of course, this summer it will be just DH and I. We raised up some Disneyland Commandos! :lmao:

And if you were OUT of the MM lines and in the line waiting for ADventureland at the end of MM, you could probably take advantage of fewer people going to Adventureland, b/c of all the MM-goers being stuck in those lines. :)

Bumber knows me well. :lmao:

"Yeah newbie....try it out & post back how it goes." ;)

& I don't disagree with Bumber & others that dropping Nemo from the MM mix & having the entire family head over to "the left side" at th :55 min. mark of MM is a good strategy....heck i do it almost every time myself.

But i know some folks HAVE to ride Nemo early & i thought the OPs plan would be preferable to heading to Nemo first thing of MM (& missing out on the other 6-7 rides they could have ridden during MM instead of Nemo).

Me?....i'd dump Nemo altogether (I'd rather ride Buzz 2-3 times with the kids during MM if i have the extra 5-10 min. to spare)....but i know Nemo is a must do for many. (But I'd rather ride Storybookland or the Train than Nemo. :)).

& regarding Angel Ariel's comments on riding Pirate's the first hour. My experience is that Pirate's is a huge line eater & that one can skip Pirates the first hour (in favor of say Splash or BTMRR &/or Haunted Mansion) & still board Pirates in the late morning & be on a boat in less than 5 min.

Then again, if you wanted to ride Pirates (or HM) multiple times, the first hour is the time to do it. :thumbsup2

& regarding "running".....i think 90% of the posters suggest walking with a purpose being the preferred method & even those who admitted to running haven't advocated doing so. :smooth:

I never get the importance of having to rush to this and leaving the family behind at that.

Isn't it all about making family memories together?

You might miss some special character interaction with your kids while you are "running" to get this fast pass.

It's about the journey together, for me.

But each family is different and if this is what works for you then be careful and don't run!:goodvibes

I agree and do not run for fastpasses. I got one when with Calvin but usually just enjoy the parks with my friends instead of scurrying across the parks.

Definitely all about making family memories together. :goodvibes

DH, however, doesn't particularly want the family memory of 4 females having to stand in line to use the restroom in Adventureland. He'd rather stride off purposefully and grab a FP for Indy, while we're crossing our legs and muttering about gender inequalities in public restrooms. :lmao:

Or, if you're like Vacation Dad or Hydroguy, you let the mom and kids knock themselves out shopping for gewgaws in the stores in Frontierland, 'cause it's not your thing, while you go get a FP for Splash, and pick up a clandestine churro on the way (or corny dog, if you're Hound 109). Just be sure to wipe away all evidences of cinnamon sugar before you get back to the group.:rotfl:

I agree but DBF uses bathroom breaks or eating breaks to make our FP runs. We like to use our time wisely so he will gladly make FP "runs" for us while we do other things. We don't wait in lines while he's running tho, unless it's something like Pooh's ride, that one he will gladly skip. lol

Like i said it's what works best for you and your family.

I think you are either commando or not.

Hey, some of my best friends are commando!

I thought my DH was the only one that does that:lmao: I remember him telling the kids and I he was "running" to get us FP then comes back with a pretzel!!!! What's up with that?

We actually rarely do the FP running thing (we rarely use the FPs we have!), but we split up for various reasons like "big rides" and such. Because of that, I missed Eamon's first interaction ever with a character, and that's a bummer (especially b/c I could have run for an autograph book when DS saw everyone else with them but hubby coudln't get out of line and miss their turn), but, you know what? It was hubby and son's special moment together, one they'll always have, and that's awesome. I get moments at home with DS like that ALL the time (not, of course, involving Buzz Lightyear), and hubby deserves some special memories like that, too. :wizard:

They also met Emile during that same trip, while I was off riding something else. Did not get a picture, though, but did get an autograph. :)

Just FYI, most Security and Attraction CMs will ask you to walk instead as running can be dangerous. You can run into someone and hurt them aka little kids, or trip on something and really really hurt yourself. Many walkways can be slippery when theres just a little water.

:)

Remember, please walk do not run. It is for safety issues. Thank you.

CMs will ask you not to run, for safety reasons and out of courtesy to others.

Very true. I've seen Cast Members numerous times telling kids not to run. Actually they usually just say "WALK PLEASE" loudly at them.

Strange that they do that but don't seem to ever tell anyone to put their cigarette out who's not in a designated smoking area... but that's another issue.

Usually I just walk in front of them and let one rip. Justice is served! :lmao:

ITA with others in that it's not good to run in the park. Accidents can happen. But I do practice the "marathon walk" - I can get up to 4.5 mph! woo hoo! That reminds me to put flame decals on my sneakers....
