Is it necessary to bring bottled water?

I have read that some people bring bottled water on the cruise. Has anyone had any trouble with the drinking water
on the ship? I am pregnant so I don't want any unnecessary illnesses...

I think most people bring their own water because it is cheaper. DCL asks that you not drink the water from the sinks in the rooms (duh!)...but they do have bottled water available on board. It's Evian, but I'm not sure how much it is....

I would bring it. First, your pregnant, so any taste that is in the water you rmight notice even more than a non preggo. I found the water on DCL to taste pretty much tastless but the water on Carnival was Vile... again, your pregnant and the tasteless water might taste to you.... ya know?? (or does everyone think I am crazy at this point)

I would also bring it because even though the water seemed fine to my freined on carnival and told all of us it was fine, no need to bring bottle waters, everyone else thought the water was nasty and we wished we had brought bottle waters and I swore up and down on that trip if anyone ever asked me if they should bring bottled water I would tell them yes.

The water on the ship is filtered and excellent, no problems there. We bring bottled water because we take it into ports with us, use it at night, etc..we drink a lot of water, not really much pop, so we like having the bottles accessible for convenience sake.

If I take a case with me, in my largest suitcase, along with my fold up cooler, I use the cooler to carry breakables off when we return to Port Canaveral, and the suitcase for dirtly clothes and souveniers..lol. Works great, gives us the extra space we need. A case to take on costs me $5, if you buy a case of evian on the ship it costs you approx $20 per case, or a bit more.

Again, the tap water is filtered an excellent..so no need to bring water on ship.

Thanks so much for asking this question! My ds only drinks water so this is important info! If he orders water at dinner it will be filtered water, right? During the day is that availble somewhere or should I have water on hand for him?

I don't recall being asked not to drink the water in the staterooms - it was filtered and fine, as far as I was concerned, as was all of the water we drank. (And I'm a bottled water freak at home......)

The water at dinner is fine. Just like in any restaurant on shore. There is also water available at the drink station on deck 9. We take a couple of bottles on board with us then refill them at the drink station to take on excursions. It tastes fine.

We used to bring bottled water but now we just bring sports bottles to fill up. The water up at the drink station is filtered and tastes great! So does the water you get at dinner.

If you want to bring it on board with you then do so or you can order a case to be delivered to your room. We've found that the water on board is just as good as any we could carry on.

Never fear...I was in early pregnancy on my last cruise and the water is excellent. That's all I drank for the most part. I was constantly at the water station on Deck 9. And as someone else mentioned we bought a couple of bottles of water, and just refilled them before we went into port. Don't waste your money or strength.

We stopped at Target on the way to the terminal and picked up a 12 pack of bottled water (I ended up bringing home 5 bottles). I did drink the water from the drink station and in all the dining rooms. I only drink water (no pop) and I added lemons (which I do anyway) and I never had any issues with the ship water.

Watch out they really push buying a case of water from them at $29 a case. As soon as we were on the ship we must have been asked 10 times, especially while we were trying to have lunch at Topsiders.

There was no such notice anywhere about not drinking the tap water that I have seen . The beverage station has the same water, only chilled.

We always carry a bottle of water in our carryon and refill them so we have them in the cabin and on excurions.

That's weird about being pushed to buy the cases of water. On 5 cruises, we've never been asked. Must be a new thing.

like others we were never advised not to drink the water from staterooms, did it all the time and it is no problem.

Here's a question: I am super sensitive to the taste of water (my dad and I argue all the time about this b/c he claims water has no taste :rotfl2: Oh I beg to differ) I know it's weird, but I cannot abide Evian. It tastes like boiled water to me. I am fine with waters like Ozarka, Dasani and Aquafina. I was wondering if anyone out there (who also can taste the diff in these waters) can tell me if the filtered water they dispense on the ship is more of a flat taste like Evian or the others I mentioned. I've just noticed that different filtration systems can produce different tasting water similar to the diffs I notice in the above stated bottled water. Just checking to see if I need to go ahead and bring on board some water I will like drinking or just a big mug ;)

how far is the target from the port, we will be looking to pick up water before checking intot he radisson at port

It was about 3 miles, when coming from Orlando the last exit before the bridge, go south about 2 miles and it is on your right hand side (a small Target) and it is set back so at first it is kind of hard to spot.

Wow, tough question for me, at least with the examples you used. Simple answer, yes, it tasted like plain old water, like the water at my parents house, they have their own well. No, it doesn't taste like my tap water at home, which has chlorine in it. No, it doesn't taste like the water at my in laws outside Houston, that's the worst water I have ever tasted.
No it doesn't taste like Dasani to me, which has a metallic taste to me, which makes sense since Coke adds minerals to filtered water. No, it doesn't taste like Aquafina to me either, I avoid Aquafina because it has a soapy taste to me.
And all bottled water has a slight plastic bottle taste to it to me.
