Is it natural for a 40 y/o man to hate leaving Fort Wilderness. We've been 8 times in 2 years and each time we go we have more fun. Let me know how u all feel.

I am with you!!!! There is no place like it!!! We do go to State Parks from time to time. But for me, nothing compares to FW. Strolling over to the Meadows, or down to the Settlement. The Campfire and movie at night are great, even just to hear the sounds of it filter through the woods. Sitting in a rocking chair outside of Trails End. Hearing the boat horns while we sit at the campsite, or the Fireworks as Epcot and Magic Kingdom close........all this and so much more make The Fort a hard place to leave!!!!!!

Oh and I almost forgot..........MICKEY WAFFLES!!!!!!!!!!

I'm glad I'm not alone. The first time we stayed at the fort was Thanksgiving 04. When we hooked up our camper and pulled out I felt like it was the hardest place to leave. I travel a lot for work and pleasure and no matter where we go after a few days of it I'm ready to be home. Not when we leave the fort. I drive out real slow and remember all we've done there. I guess it really is a magical place.

I am divorced and it's just my daughter (Annie) and I who go. I always say this is one memory she will never forget. She dreads the day we go home too. I guess if we got to go too often it wouldn't be as fun. I'm booked for Thanksgiving weekend and March 19-23. Most like will spend a couple more times there before Thanksgiving.

I love Fort Wilderness the best out of all the resorts. We are coming from March 2-11 and the Fort is all booked. We are sad to be staying at Pop Century. I love Pop but it is not the same as the Fort.

We took our first trip to the Fort almost a year ago (Jan. 21, 2006). I remember so many details from that trip and especially how depressing it was to leave (for the whole family).

But, I was only 39 then.:rotfl2:

If I ever called and they were booked, we'd pick a different time to go. :thumbsup2

I can relate!! I always say the saddest thing in Fort Wilderness it seeing someone leave and know one day it will be me!!

I'm feeling home-sick. Our first trip to FW was 4th of July last year and we have been back 3 times since then. I enjoy rving at the Fl Keys but there is nothing like FW.

Stacktester,

I feel like I could hang out at FW all day under the Spanish moss covered trees, take a dip in the pool, nap in the camper, and go to the campfire/singalong any/every day of the year. I daydream of being able to spend a month or so there just doing the above, regardless of cost, family and job demands, or anything else.

I like chasing the ducks, watching the bunny rabbits, the turkey that comes to the 900 loop to feed (the peacocks aren't there any more), reading the newspaper in the Meadows Trading Post rocking chair, or going for a long morning walk on the nice paved paths FW has.

Maybe some day!..... :goodvibes

There is nothing like driving into FW and having the guard say "Welcome Home". It really does feel like home when you are there. Always hate to leave.

I always liked and enjoyed this place. So I found no reason to leave such an attractive place.

I don't know if it's "natural" but I hate to see the "leaving papers" on the truck window on the last morning. Before I get out of the gate, I'm thinking about returning the next year.

I hated the thought of leaving so much on our last trip that I ended up finding a way to extend our stand for 2 more nights.

Really? And i thought only DVC members got the Welcome Home!!! Now i really WILL feel at home at the fort!
