Is it me, or does this girl look overdone?

I've never understood the urge to dress young female children like ladies of the evening...

And that is SUCH an attractive look for her hair! Looks like undercooked ramen noodles!

I smell paternity test...

I think there are limits, but I don't see that photo being anything close to objectionable. The advertisement is promoting the idea of "glittering" -- this is a concept that appeals to young girls. I don't see excessive mascara. I don't see deep red lipstick. I don't see fishnet stockings. I do see a purple bow in the hair -- which if any mature woman would wear I'd recommend psych counseling. :lmao:

Have you been to downtown Disney where they have that little beauty salon set up and they do the little girls with hair extensions and glitter and make up....it is all about the sparkle, and then they put the princess outfits on.....WOW!!!!!!!!! http://www.wdwinfo.com/downtown/marketplace/index.htm

I thought she looked cute, maybe she has real curly hair and that is what it looks like when blown out with a diffuser...not a lot of make up, some gloss I did notice, and they are trying to sell a look so maybe a tad overdone.. If the hair was not so big, maybe you would not think it was overdone.

Wow. Is there a child under that? :confused3

Looks like a hooker from the 80s.

forget the 80's-that's exactly the style of dress they wear in a neighboring city every night of the week (except the blouse would be gone and a tank belly baring top or tube top would be in place).

i have no problems with the hair-don't like it but no problems. my issue is with the lack of length on the skirt. imho while it's cute or appropriate for a diapered toddler to wear short dresses/skirts, once a little girl is wearing 'grown up panties' she should have sufficient material to cover them. i can't imagine how high that skirt hikes up when the wearer sits down at a desk-let alone when she plays on the jungle gym or monkey bars (heck the schools my dd has attended have required that even girls wearing shorts have more coverage than this skirt provides).

as far as the sparkle look-i guess it's fine in it's place (i seem to remember it being popular at night in the discos of my youth) but i don't think we should encourage little girls to consider this a regular part of their day to day attire.

the 'model' reminds me of dd's 'bratz dolls' who i personaly think dress totaly like 'econo-hookers' (which has resulted in a heated discussion between dd and i as to why she will not be allowed to be a 'bratz' for halloween :sad2: ).

My DD's hair is naturally big like that, although not as long. She gets teased mercilessly for it. :(

Other than the hair, I think the she looks ok.

I think the outfit is cute and I'd buy if for my niece who is seven.

As far as the length of the skirt that can be solved with a pair of shorts under it in the summer. The rest of year you pair it with a cute pair of cotton, textured tights.

I buy a few things from Children's Place for my 7 yo DD but I find a lot of it a little too "hoochie koochie mama" for my taste. I prefer the more wholesome Gymboree or LandsEnd.

I smell paternity test...

I was initially thinking Bernadette Peters ..

.. but Dee Snider works also. :teeth:

She does look a little overdone. Not JonBenet-level overdone, but close. I think it's the combo of the hair, the bow, and the short skirt that make her look less like a kid. What happened to letting kids be kids?

Well I think she's adorable. The skirt could be a little longer but it looks as if she is wearing heavy tights or maybe even leggings underneath.

buckylarue.... about your statement "And that is SUCH an attractive look for her hair! Looks like undercooked ramen noodles!"
My nephew has the same hair only a little shorter. He is half black/white and his parents let his hair grow a little long,it's natural and much more attractive than some of the hairstyles I see on kids now a days.

I find it sad that this little girl is being compared to a stripper/hooker :sad2:

ETA: MushyMushy :grouphug: to your DD. My nephew has come home from school crying more than once because of kids teasing him about his hair.
