Is it just us or do others skip the formal night on the cruise? While many enjoy the opportunity to dress up, it isn't something we care to do on a cruise.

We plan to do room service or Pluto's on formal night and wondered if others did the same.

We are skipping it too, we are eating at the buffet that night. Not sure if we are even going to do the semi-formal one.

While I enjoy formal night, I have skip dinner before. After a long day of touring the Cozumel, we decided to just have dinner at Pluto's and then take a swim in the all but empty pools. We didn't feel like dressing for dinner that night.

I wouldn't miss it. I don't like dressing up, but it's worth the effort.

We've never missed dinner but I think I could see us doing what Robin did.

If you know you are going to miss it please tell your serving team. They'll be worried about you if you don't show, but if you let them know ahead of time they'll be happy for whatever choice you make.

Is that the day its on?? I thought it would be on an At Sea day! For sure I won't be going if its that day, after spending the day at the beach there the last thing I am gong to want to do is go to dinner. I am not crazy about the menu for formal night anyway and unless I am dressing up formal I wouldn't go to the dining room.

On our first cruise, we skipped dinner one night -- but I do not recall which night it was. We opted for relaxing in our stateroom and eating veggie burgers and fries from Plutos.

I cant wait for formal night, but we are going to skip semi formal night. DH and I will go to Palo that night and we will get the kids room service.

We were planning on getting dressed up - but we didn't - Can't remember what day it fell on, but we were having too much fun on the ship and we didn't want to stop - DD wanted to go to kids club - so that meant she wouldn't be there or in any pictures - We had a late lunch -

Basically, we were just going with the flow of the day -

We don't like to dress up either so we skip formal night.

No......... you're not the only ones...........

We will skip both formal and informal nights, and probably eat at Topsiders. Much more relaxing.........

If you don't want to go to your main dining room for dinner, I suggest checking out Topsiders. We found it to be very nice, good atmosphere, quite relaxed, and you still get a great dinner.

On formal night and semi-formal night we dine at our appointed dining room. My husband wears a suit and I wear a dress. We enjoy eating in the dining room with our tablemates. We use Topsiders for breakfast and lunch. Everyone does what they are comfortable with. I'm sure you will enjoy your meal wherever you eat.

Thank you for your replies, folks. It's good to know others feel the same way. We certainly will try Topsiders for dinner on formal night and appreciate the
suggestion :happy1:

Best wishes everyone.

:wave2: We ate dinner at our assigned dinning room every night on our 1st cruise. This cruise we are not going to do that. We had a great time dressing up. But this time, we are not going to force the kids into it. We are going to go with the flow of the day and probably check out topsiders too.

Originally, we were going to skip formal night, but then I changed my mind and we are glad we did it. It was fun to get all dressed up for one night!
