Or is anyone else shocked that the Grand Floridian was not added to the list of testing resorts thru Oct. 31 since the NEWEST resort, VGF will have its grand opening Oct. 23 :confused3 Obviously you can tell from my ticker that I'll be staying at VGF in November and was sure hoping to use the Magic Bands :lmao:

Actually I would think the last place they would want to test something would be in a brand new resort which may already have other kinks to work out.

Please check in at the GF thread when you return. I have a 2br lake view in January and can't wait to hear about it:yay:

I'd be a lot more surprised if they were testing magic bands at VGF. From the resort staff's perspective, they sure won't want to be dealing with beta software while they're trying to work out the kinks in a brand new resort, with new employees.

From a software development perspective, the last place you want to beta test is at a customer site that's brand new and still working out their own processes. When we select a beta site for my company's software, we don't even consider our newer customers. We want long time, stable customers who know the system and their own processes very well. We reject any site that's bringing other software online around the same time, or has some sort of internal drama going on.

I know the Disney guests are looking this as a fun new thing to try, but it's not finished yet, and a good beta test environment is absolutely key to getting it finished well. The developers don't want a big chunk of their testers (the resort staff) distracted. They want them focused on the new software and giving them good feedback.

The Grand Floridian is Disney's flagship (and most expensive) resort. I am sure that they won't bring MBs there until the bugs are worked out of the system.

This is what I am hoping! We are booked to stay at GF for our upcoming December trip. I do not want to have to deal with MB testing and its bugs. I will be happy to use the paper fast passes and my KTTW card.

I suppose the astonishment comes from the fact that one expects the most expensive resort at WDW to be the one to get to try things out first. But that's not how WDW is looking at it, or they would have immediately chosen GF as a testing resort.

On the other hand, guests at the most expensive resort on property might actually demand that everything be working smoothly at all times, in which case using them for beta testing an unproven system could be a problem for WDW. I also think that the last thing the personnel at a newly opened resort wants to think about would be magic band testing.

I sure will! :thumbsup2 I am actually planning on doing a pre-trip report and a LIVE trip report while down there:beach: Hopefully you'll follow along as it gets closer :wave2:
