Is it just me

My pleasure Willy :)

I also just found for free pop up stopper - which should definately do the job - however this will stop ALL pop-ups, not just advertising.

Hope that helps :)

I have never received any popups from the DIS. But with the many that are out there, I have been using software from http://www.panicware.com/ with much success for some time now. The nice thing about this software is that you can allow popups which are necessary, or desired, to continue to popup.

Every once in a while I get one. I installed Ad Aware and they seemed to have stopped.

Would that stop the pop-up message you get when you have a PM here on the DIS?

I'm not 100% sure as I have a Mac not a PC so don't have this problem, but I think it would. My link is to Panicware as well - where there is a free version - but as Dan said afterwards, there is a paid for version which is more sophisticated - with that, you can 'allow' pop-ups at the sites you want.

Actually, I'm only assuming that Dan is referring to the paid version as he mentioned it separately to me, but he might have just been talking about the freebie one as well!

Did you buy your pop-up stopper Dan? Or is it the freeware one.

I used to, until I ran AdAware. That apparently cleaned off something that was causing the popups. I haven't had them since.

It is the Companion (paid) version, Penny. I have many sites, especially financial ones, but also many others, that require popups for proper functionality. Or, as mentioned by Blondie, desirable popups like PM notifications.

Here is a comparison chart from Panicware.

I also use Ad-Aware on a regular basis (at least weekly), and it always finds at least one spyware tucked in somewhere. The first time I ran it, it found many on my PC. Good software.

I agree...get ad-aware! I never saw the popups while on the DIS (but had heard of others getting them) until I went to WDW this summer...I was getting them on my laptop. I installed and ran the Ad-Aware program and they were gone :)

I don't here but I do just about everywhere else.

I've never had them here, but in most other places I do get them.

I don't get them. I hate those things.

Sometimes I get them when I DIS but they are from another site. Our local paper site sends pop-ups if you have them open in another window.
