Is it just me or...

Just got back from 6 nights on the free dining plan and had excellent service everywhere we went. My only complaint was that dan at mama melrose was not very friendly..... but he was very efficent....I don't think it had anything to do with the dining plan... it just seemed to be his personality. All servers were very helpful in explaining what was covered with the plan.

We had some of the best service I've had anywhere on this trip... Cedric at Chefs de France and Collete at CRT were excellent.

We just returned from an 8 night stay 9/23-10/2, and found that table service was generally poor. No server was rude to us because of the dining plan (the one rude server seemed generally ill mannered, not annoyed at the plan). But they were all rushed and indifferent. And handling way too many tables. Based on the number of tables each server was handling, with the guaranteed gratuity-- many of those servers are making 400-500 a shift.

Probably...considering not one of our tips was under 20 dollars...it says right on your reciept what the tip is btw for all who want to know. You get a zeroed out copy BTW but you can go to your resort and request copies for each TS Snack and CS meal...very cool indeed...those copies also tell you how many credits are left

I was down in Sept. and ate at a couple of Disney restaurants and BOMA was one of them. While you don't expect the type of service that you normally get at a full service restaurant, your server should be clearing the table as you finish with one trip to the buffet and should keep your drinks filled. They should also fully explain the process at their particular restaurant.

I have found the absolute best server at BOMA, his name is John and he is just great. Very friendly, fully explains how BOMA works, keeps the glasses full, the table clean and will inquire about any special occasions. He then will arrange a special surprise for you at dessert time.

He has done this every time I've been there, ( We go to BOMA every trip at least once) and have not been on the dining plan (FL res AP's and stay at my Deltona house and use DDE)

Last month, I requested John special again (as I always do now), DS and I were seated, John remembered us and greated us warmly and brought a mickey cake at the end of our meal, "just because"

I have had a couple of bad servers, several mediocre ones and many good ones. Like any other service related industry, you can get all types and everyone can have a bad day. I have seen a trend in service to the "less attentive" everywhere and not just at Disney. However, I tend to hold Disney to a higher standard and I am disapointed when they do not deliver.

I had to bump this up again after reading the "new" dining reports. I have to say I am a bit miffed. We will be NOT on the dining plan and best get decent service. Some of these reports are having my hair stand up!! I hope everyone who get bad service lets them know or it will be the "norm" in WDW!!

Although I haven't (yet) posted my own dining report, I will say that DW and I had nary a bad dining experience (including service) during the whole trip. And we went during the free dining promotion (late Aug.) and ate almost all of our meals at TS establishments, both in the parks and in the resorts. And it was busy.

Oh, btw, we were not on the dining plan. And, regarding Boma (which we ate at three times), not to denegrate John (whom I'm sure is totally awesome :) ), but I'd have to say the best, warmest, friendliest server at Boma honor would have to fall upon Chaidan. He was superlative in every way.

we went to WDW the week of 9/25-10/1, with free dining. We had great service everywhere. Our favorite server was Julio at Tony's Town Square. We did not have to ask once for beverage refills. I think the worst was at 1900 Park Faire. The server there only refilled our drinks once, and the restaurant was so noisy, we decided that we will probably never go there again. We also went to O'Hana for breakfast, Sci Fi Diner for lunch, Mama Melrose's for dinner, and Princess Story Book Dinner.

We were there 8/21-28 on the free dining plan. We had really good service everywhere we ate. The only place it seemed slow was at Sci-Fi Diner, and I think the server just had too many tables. Otherwise everyone was ver accomodating and pleasant. Oh, and the servers don't know if you are on the free dining plan or paid for it.
