We got back from the fort a couple of weeks ago, and of course had an awesome time....my question is has anyone seen the "bus washer people" (I can't remember the name of the company) that drive around looking for "buses" to wash. I say this because we were in the 400 loop and there were a ton of big rigs. (we have a modest camper). Anyway, on two different days, I kept hearing this horrible hum that didn't seem to stop. I couldn't figure out what it was until I looked across the street and noticed these people waxing a "bus". Then they continued and did the "bus" next door! I swear it went on for 2 straight hours! Also, for the 10 days we were there, I kept seeing them "troll" our loop looking for other customers!

(I also didn't like the increased traffic in the loop with my 3 kids out riding their bikes around the loop either) I didn't think Disney would allow this solicitation on property, but it seems they do. Also, their van was parked on OUR site...not across the street where they were working...that also irked me! Sorry for the rant, but as you can see this really bugged me. I mean if they let these people come in to the loops to solicit their services, where will it stop? I don't know about you but I go to Disney to get away from all of the telemarketers, and such and just relax!!! :)

Maybe I am overreacting, but does this bug anyone else or is it just me?:confused3

I am in agreement 100%!!!!!

DW and I feel that there should be NO service of this sort allowed within the confines of FW. We are there for R&R and do not want to hear the noise of pressure washers. If there was an area in the Big Lot or elsewhere then that would be fine.

Just bring your flamethrower and burn their rig down John. Lol. Just kidding. I've been there and had the same thing happen next to us. It's almost as bad as when the chipper machines were going. It would be nice if they had an area somewhere away from the sites that could accomodate these people and do it your selfers who want to do some washing. I test emissions at industrial facilities and I hear huge fans blowing all day. I can do without a pressure washer.

Annoying and that is why we wash our rig before we get to Fort Wilderness. There are truck stops along the way that offer these same services and it doesn't take very long.

We agree with you 100% also. Since we have been going to FW, Disney has gotten very lax on the amount of traffic, etc. that is going on inside the campground. They should not allow such services as that inside the loops. If they want that done, Camping World is not far away and they can have it done there. We go for the R&R of camping, not to listen to that stuff. The last time we were there, there was a Dog Grooming truck doing the same thing.

I'm not a huge fan of it, but I can see the need/desire for it (love bugs, salt from snow, etc. that you want to get off before it has a chance to fester). We, too have a modest camper and when we get to FW, I will give the nose a quick wash in love bug season, but that's about it.

I do think it wold be nice if FW would lay down dome rules for it, like pressure washing only between 10 and 4, no trawling for business -- only there for appointments, must park on the site where the washing is going on, etc. That would limit it somewhat to hours that people are awake, in the parks, doing other things, etc. and inconvenience people a lot less.

I agree whole heartedly!! They were here on loop 800 for the first 2 days we were here cleaning the big rigs. Pressure washer is very annoying when you are trying to relax and destress. I can't remember their name either.

Quietly doing the cleaning yourself is one thing but I agree that the pressure washer is too much.

We are one of those big rig owners and we totally agree with everyone here. Fort Wilderness is a very different campground than most. It's a vacation destination and not just a stop over campground. The noise of pressure washers is a huge annoyance and very inconsiderate to all of your camping neighbors and should not be allowed by Disney!! As for allowing it during certain hours, I don't think that would work and we are a perfect example. We are night folks and head to the parks at 8:00 p.m. and stay until the wee hours. Therefore, we usually sleep until about noon.

When we travel and arrive at our overnight campgrounds we will hand wash the front of the rig if it needs it but like a previous poster mentioned, you can get your rig washed at a truck stop or Camping World. For our trip in December, when we are all done with our vacation at Disney we are heading to Lazy Days in Tampa for a complete wash and wax of our rig.

If Disney wants to cater to the big rigs and bring in some additional income, they should create a separate area AWAY from the campsites where you can make appointments to have your rig washed. (I hope some Disney Bigwigs read this and do something about it).

we had this problem years ago when we stayed in the 300 loop, which to us looks like a parking lot now. (My family has been going to FW since the year it opened when I was just a kid.)
I wish FW would really enforce rules. Not to be a spoil sport but things are not as pleasant as they use to be whether its this noise or parents allowing kids to play in the roads throwing balls that ultimately hit other people vehicles while playgrounds are close by.
I read on these boards recently that a disney person was trying to keep rental golf carts out, meanwhile they allow this? I can see basic detailing but the pressure wash can last for hours. For example we stayed about 12 nites this one visit in the 300 loop, this crew was there about everyday making this racket.

You Guys and Gals are right on!!!! my wife and I own a landscape co. and after 10 months of listening to motors run (somtimes 10 hours strait) the last thing I want to hear is anougher motor running for the two months we are at the fort!!!! I thought I read on a post here some whare that they (Disney) sent out a survey to campers on there experiance at the fort, Well heres your chance not that they would listen but then again the squeaky wheel gets the grease!!!!

I had it done last June, what bothered me was it cost $300.00. They did a bang up job though!

One of the washing crews was at the site next to us in Jan. on the 1400 loop. They were there all day - we had to ask them to move their equipment as it was blocking our truck. Apparently the job was not done to our neighbor's satisfaction since the crew was back the next day washing the MH again! So annoying!

Haven't had the pleasure of what sounds like a VERY annoying situation. I guess there's not much $$ in tent or popup washing. as those are the loops we're in.
Has anyone called the front desk to complain? Perhaps if enough folks express their displeasure, this activity will stop. Just a thought.

Just another problem for campers caused by other campers...with assistance from FW.

Thurston and Lovey have some love bugs mashed on the camper nose, some shiiiimply gauche grime on the sides and unspeakable gunk all over their rear end.

FW allows glosstitutes to peddle their services...

Thurston and Lovey are happy...
Glosstitutes are happy...
Neighboring campers, not so much.

Blame for FW, no doubt, but dont forget, if there werent campers coming off of the road wishing to look as if they were coming off the showroom floor, there wouldnt be such a problem.

I was lucky in August, no Thurstons and no glosstitutes plying their trade.

Do you know how little force it takes to snap off the ceramic head of a pressure washer spark plug? I do.

No permanent damage, not likely to carry a spare. Here's $5, come back after I leave, hope no one who reads this post takes my spot.

Thurston and Lovey, how about wash up before you come to the dinner table? We are, after all, camping, so we dont expect a surgical scrub.

Just wanted to let you know all of you pulling in with bugs on the front of your camper which really bugs me on ours. the best way to get them off is to save your dryer sheets, after you have used them at least one time, Just get them damp and wipe those bugs right off the front of your camper works on cars to . You will be amazed worked great for us and you don't have to get a hose out.

What I want to know is when the check is made out for services rendered is it made out to the company or the owner??? Is the guy paying taxs on that money or is it a get rich quick because I got layed off and I am getting unemployment while I am working under the table!!!! As a owner of a company there is nothing that rubs me the wrong way faster than somebody that does the same type of work and one guy pays taxs and the other guy does not... We all don't like to pay them but that's part of doing business so play fare or get out!!!! sorry for the rant it just p.o.s me to no end when that crap happends. K.

You hit the nail on the head. I realize that some of these rigs cost more than some folks houses. And some folks that own them want to show them off to their neighbors. I own a class "A" myself and like to keep it clean, not just for looks but to prevent long term damage. But give it a break:scared1:, this is a camp ground to relax in and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. If you must be squeaky clean for your stay do it off site prior to your arrival or after you leave. Let the rest of us enjoy the Magic.

My .02 worth. Every campground I've stayed in, even 'basic' ones run by the state (not as fancy as FW) have rules and one of them usually is 'no washing of units at the campsite.'

I can't find my old FW rule sheet but seem to remember this is on there, isn't it? I would think a call to the front desk to report it, enough of these might get something done about it. I know there are some overzealous CM's that ride around looking to bust folks for the slightest infraction, give 'em something else to concentrate on.:thumbsup2

It was made out to a company, I will look it up.

I actually got their name from this board, so I really can't understand the complaints..I thought most people, like me, stayed at FW to visit the parks and were gone during the day. Lovey and I would never of imposed on the commoners If it were so disruptive. I sure hope the dogs they left in their pop ups all day didn't bark too much. It may have caused other problems.

I bet with all the noise it was hard to watch the race on the blow up TV. Sorry, LOL!! got to run, tea time you know..
