I was married at the Wilderness Lodge almost 9 years ago and now we (plus our two little additionsprincess: pirate: ) are finally returning to the Lodge, is it impolite or in bad taste to drop a hint by letting the person checking us in that we were married there? I always heard stories about people who told the staff they were celebrating something and received little perks. I kind of feel guilty telling them, but at the same time would love a little extra Disney magic. Just wondering what others opinions are regarding this. Thanks:hippie:

I think it is awsome to share your great memories with the CM.. What will it hurt.. I don't think its bad at all to share this.. People tell the CM's all the time when they check in if its their anniversary or birthday.. I say do it you can't lose..

Have Fun!!!

Spicycat,
You will be in WDW on my 9th Anniversary (Oct 14)!!
I will definately not expect anything, but if something does happen...that will be great!! No disappointments either way, i am just so happy to finally get my kids to Disney and show them where mommy and daddy got married. My daughter told us she wants to get married there tooprincess: Thankfully that will be many years in the future!!:flower3:

I would do it, but like another poster said just dont expect anything! That way if you do get something it will be extra magical!

What a beautiful picture!! One of the things I liked best about getting married in Disney was the beautiful pictures we had taken.:bride:

I say tell them. :thumbsup2
At the minimum it adds some nice conversation during check in and that may be all. But you never know when a little magic might happen.:wizard: So expect nothing, but be joyous and gracious if they choose to do anything extra for you.

Have a great time!

Sounds like good advice, thanks!:cloud9:

Well, you can just politely slip it into the conversation when you check in.

The CM will most definitely ask: "How are you doing today".

Then, you can answer something along the lines of: "I'm doing great! I'm SO happy to be back here. The last time I was here was 9 years ago, when we got married here. This place is very special to my husband and I and we are so happy to finally be back with our 2 children."

Depending on the CM, you might receive a little gift in your room at some point, or perhaps an upgrade, or you might just get a nice acknowledgement from them. In any event, the REAL magic is being back there 9 years later with your two children. A nice testament that at WDW, dreams really do come true!

It also is good to note this on your dining reservations that you are celebrating your marriage at WDW and on your hotel reservations have the CM note it before your arrive. Get buttons from guest services, tell them you are celebrating your anniversary or wedding etc.

Thanks Indigoxtreme, I never even thought about dining, great idea. Even if we are given nothing it gives me the idea to suprise my husband somehow at dinner, we're going to Artist's Point, maybe I can get a special bottle of wine for our Anniversary. You got me thinking now! Thanks for the inspiration:banana:

Definitely tell them when you're making all reservations - hotel & dining. My parents just got back from a 36th anniversary trip. They had told both the hotel & their ADR's it was their anniversary. They had a signed card in their room, at CRT they got wine glasses, and CP had a heart on their table made out of Mickey confetti. I've also heard of people getting things when their wearing their buttons they get there. I agree - don't get your hopes up, but I really do think they do stuff.

Also, as a side note, make sure your kids get their "1st visit" buttons to wear.

DBF and I stayed at the WL on our trip a couple of weeks ago and when we were checking in, the CM asked us if we were celebrating anything special without bringing up the subject. It was our first vacation together and DBF's first time to WDW and we told her that. She was happy for us, but didn't really say anything else about it. But, we had booked a woods view room, and when we got upstairs, we had a courtyard view. We don't know if it was a result of the CM asking us if we were celebrating anything, but either way... we weren't going to question a free upgrade! :cool1:

Cool, I love all of these ideas, I will get anniversary pins for myself and the DH and 1st time pins (how sweet!!)for the kids. I won't get my hopes up too far, but at least I know there is a chance:wizard:

Always tell them, at minimum you will get a card for your Anniversary. Last time we were staying at P.O.R.S. for my daughters B'day she cot a card and cake deliverd to the room that night.

As everyone has stated, please do tell them. You have the rather unique situation that you actually got married at WL.

We have, and many others have celebrated anniversaries there, you were Married there!

Good Luck! :thumbsup2

We told them at the Yacht Club and were able to get a nice view of the Wedding Gazebo. That was the only perk, but it was great!
