hi,
we have 6 kids and 2 adults who are going on our trip and we wanted to get the royal suite. Do you know how far ahead we should book our cruise? we wanted to go in Ocotber, but i don't know if the room will already be taken. There are only supposed to be 2 royal suites on the boat. Is there anyone who tried to book the trip now and didn't get it 9 months ahead of time for the royal suite?

Thanks,
Lysha(this will be our 1st cruise!!!!!)

Unless someone cancels, my understanding is that your chances of getting one of the two Royal Suites is very low unless you have a request in for one before the sailing dates open up. Also, I think that the maximum number you can have in on of the Cat 1 suites is 7.

Yes...it's hard to get the Walt or the Roy Suite. We got on a waitlist while onboard in August 2004 for any date in August or September 2006. The hint is to be flexible!!!!!!! Just call Disney and they will put you on the waiting list...or fax your request.

To echo:
It's not easy, you have to get on a list and hope for the best, and if it does come through, it's likely you'll have to adjust your vacation dates to accommodate.

To add:
Are you thinking that you'd like one of these suites because of the size of your party, or because that's the type of accommodations you are accustomed to being in when you travel? If it's the latter (i.e. money's not really an object), then you'll just have to get on a list and be patient and flexible. If it's the former, then you are much better served getting 2 or 3 adjoining rooms. You should expect that the Walt or the Roy will run you about 6 or 7 times the cost of a Cat 10 room.

Also, aside from being very nice, I would say these two suites are really designed for having parties and other social functions when you cruise with friends and others (e.g. if you're in the Walt, do you really need a piano just for your own amusement?). If you just use them as a stateroom for your family to sleep in, I would say you're not getting your money's worth. On our last trip in October, we cruised with some friends who had the Roy suite (we're cruising with them again this October, where they are in the Walt), and though they did sleep there (passed out, more like), the main function of the suite was to be party-central for the duration of the cruise.

I hope this helps.
