For our next trip DS will be 11 and DD will be 8 and I have been throwing around the idea in my head about getting ajoining rooms.

DH has said, after giving him an idea on prices, that he wants to try POP out for our next trip. This coming from a man who said he doesn't want to stay at another value resort. LOL!!! But he has read the threads on here that many have posted about not having noise problems with POP. Plus he would rather have the extra money in his pocket instead of spending it on a Mod.

Is it hard to get ajoining rooms at POP? Plus I look at it this way. we will have two bathrooms compared to only one if we stayed at a Mod.

TIA!!!

First of all, adjoining rooms do not have a connecting door. You want to request "connecting" rooms.

Adjoining will be next to each other without a door between. As to how easy it is to get them, that is hard to say. You can request them but since you have 2 adults in your group they will not gaurantee them.

alright, someone with my first name, how old is he and who is he named after

Sammie...Thank you for correcting me. I was thinking of having DH and DS in one room and DD and me in the other. Cause if we only had one room I could hear the kids fighting now on you gets to sleep in the bed and who sleeps on the floor.

DH or I will not sleep with either kid. All they do is toss and turn. Many times I have went to wake them up for school and their heads have been at the foot of the bed. LOL!!!

My Dalton is named after Patrick Swazye's charater in the movie Roadhouse, and he's 8 thinking he's 18. LOL!!!

This is a good question. I've often wondered how hard it is to get adjoining rooms. I've seen so many posts about requests not being honored. I wonder what would happen if the resort was full but adjoining room were a neccessity but not available?

I have requested connecting rooms 3 times and have always received them. Its nice to put the kids to bed and not worry about having the light on in your room or how loud the TV is, and the extra space and bathroom is awesome.:smooth: Make sure your request is noted on your ressie. Disney will expect one adult to be in the room with the kids, but we just left the connecting door open so we knew the kids were ok.:D

They almost always have adjoining rooms available, but they may not have adjoining rooms that are also connecting rooms. I have seen quite a few posts where people said they had asked for "adjoining rooms", but didn't get them. Then many of them go on to say that they got rooms that were "next to each other, but not adjoining". They actually got what they asked for, but not what they thought they were asking for.
Adjoining Rooms sound like they "join" together, but they don't necessarily. Adjoining rooms are just next to each other. Depending on the hotel, they might not even be right next to each other, but might be across the hall or separated by doors leading to stairways, utility rooms, etc. All connecting rooms are adjoining, but not all adjoining rooms connect.
If you want rooms that are next to each other and have an inside door that you can open to connect the rooms together, you need to ask for Connecting Rooms.

Make requests when you first make your reservation and list them in the order of importance to you. I have read posts from room assigners where they say they attempt to at least give one request if they can't meet them all. They assume that whatever you gave as your first request was the most important one to you. There may be times when they can't meet many (or even any) of your requests, because of what rooms are available when you are to check in. But if you list them in order of importance, chances are better of at least getting the most important one.

In three requests, AllStar Music, PO/Riverside and Swan, we got connecting rooms each time. If there's some extenuating reason, infant or mobility restricted person involved, I'm told that makes a difference. This March at Swan my 2 yr. old GD clinched the deal for us.

we had connecting rooms at pop for our last trip and it was heaven having a bed for each person (rather than sharing w/me or dh and/or having one child sleep on the floor) but even more heavenly having a tv w/kid shows and a tv w/the news/weather (we were there for hurricane frances!), plus the extra bathroom was nice!

just a suggestion, depending on how you are booking your trip, we found that by booking dd/i in one room and dh/ds in another we saved $247 over booking four of us in one room w/the other "room only" addition... it pays to do your homework! (we did the 5+2 dream-maker prince/princess package) the cm when i called to switch the ressie said that the two separate ressies would definitely come out more costly, so imagine her surprise when it came in cheaper (and we got more "choice features" by booking it separately, so that is another perk)... i was glad i asked!

good luck and enjoy!

Adjoing rooms are rooms that are close to each other.

Connecting rooms are rooms that are connect with a door between them.

When making reservations, if you request a connecting room because of children they will "guarantee" the room. I have heard that POP has the most connecting rooms of all the resorts.

We have a large family of 7 and connecting rooms is a neccesity for us. Thankfully we have always gotten them.

As many have stated watch your wording and make sure that your request comes through correctly on your reservation confirmation... Adjoining means SIDE BY SIDE, no door physically connecting the room from the interior. Connecting means there is a door within the interior of the room that connects it to the room next door.

As also was mentioned requests are just that they are requests and they are not guaranteed.

The only way that a connecting room is guaranteed is if there is only 1 adult on the reservation (if you were to have 1 adult and say 4 kids), otherwise it is a request which they will try to fill.

"Most" of the time filling a connecting room request is not hard, but it depends on the time of year and how busy the hotel is. If they can not get you a connecting room upon check in you can always ask them if you can room change the following day for your request, most hotels have no probelm with that if they can accomodate the request the next day.

We have guaranteed connecting rooms at CSR for our upcoming trip. It even says it on my reservation confirmation. There will be 5 of us - 2 adults and 3 kids ages 7,6 and 4. She said they are guranteed connecting due to the ages of the kids. Hope that helps some.

Again, thanks for correcting me on what type of rooms to ask for.

Our trip is still a long ways a way and it would be so much better if we had two rooms with the ages DS and DD will be at that time.

Already figured that DH and DS would be in one room and DD and I would be in the other.

I just wanted to see how easy or hard it was to get "connecting" rooms.

TA!!!
