Is it December Yet?? Cancelled with a Heavy Heart!

So they opened up the December ADR's for Coral Reef, Garden Grill, Rose & Crown and LeCellier........I thought, WOO HOO......but then I remembered, I didn't have any ADR's left to make at Epcot!!! :rotfl2: The only thing left is the CP Dining Pkg......hopefully I'll be able to get Coral Reef for that one!!

Well, then I got to thinking.....if Coral Reef was one of the 4 most popular restaurants, maybe I should see if I could just book that for our dinner on the 8th, cancel San Angel Inn and then just go for San Angel on the CP Pkg.

Well...........it worked!!! We are now booked at Coral Reef, Dec. 8th 7:30pm!!! This was definitely a restaurant I wanted to try and I would have been very disappointed to not get it. So I went with the for sure thing.

Now I'll have my friend try to get us San Angel on the 26th for the CP Package. This should be a tad easier than Coral Reef!!! :goodvibes Feeling good about this decision!!!! :hyper:

Congrats on booking Coral Reef on the 8th! I hope you get a great server because that can really make or break the dining experience there. Ask for Ileonna from Puerto Rico (seasonal CM) or Mike if you think of it when you check in. They are both very attentive.

We ate there last Thursday and didn't have either Mike or Ileonna yet they were both working. Ileonna came up to our table to say hi though. The server we did have, brought me butter when I asked for more water. Was back 2 more times to check on us before she finally brought my water, which was after Ileonna stopped by to say hi. Then she asked if we are regulars, and started to be more attentive. Service there is slow and relaxing, but the food is great and the aquarium is very cool!

A bad server can make any meal not so great. We're hoping for great food, an attentive chef when it comes to setting us up with a meal for Shyann (allergies to egg, wheat, peanut & tree nuts) and a friendly server. I have no problem getting up and requesting assistance if our server goes MIA. ;) I have had to do that in the past.....we try to be good, friendly diners (who actually do some of our own cleaning up)...so we just ask for the same from our server.

With a group our size, I hope we're somewhere where the kids will be able to see the aquarium & actually enjoy it!!! Not sure of the set up for larger families.

The large tables are either the 2nd set of tables from the tank or the furthest away ones. They are kind of half circles in shape facing the aquarium.

There is the set of tables right next to the tanks, then there are small tables next to those (where we sat) and then there are the U shaped booths. I don't think you will have any problem seeing as they are slightly elevated higher than the tables, and the tank covers most of the wall. :)

Ok, we'll just hope for the best.....I understand that a family of 7 needs to sit where they can put us..... :rotfl:

So many big things going on with you!

So glad you got all your ADR's :cool1:

Derek looks like he's having such an awesome time (of course he is! Who couldn't help but smile in the happiest place on earth)
And what a blessing to have the inside scoop to help with your planning and making everything great for your kiddos :yay:

Sending prayers that everything works out with Mia amd that little princess is with you soon!

I am leaving for Portland on Monday for a week for training for work! I'm so excited as I've never been there before. So I'll be thinking of you and your family as I fly in :goodvibes

I'm very pleased with our ADR's.....the only one I'm contemplating is the luau vs HDDR.......when I was first planning, it looked like it was going to be closed.....so I didn't even consider it.....now it's available. Any insider reviews between the two & which one would you go to??

Derek is really excited.....he completed his first day of training on site & they were so impressed they mentioned a culinary track for him........pretty exciting to get that kind of praise & just imagine doing some culinary training & becoming a chef at WDW.....wowsers!!!!

Now that I know things aren't looking good for Addy's mom......I just want to go pick up Mia & bring her home.....but I can't do that...knowing how the system works and that we all could be heartbroken by it. We'll just have to wait.....but it makes me so sad on all the things she's missing out on with us now.

Welcome to Portland, Oregon.......home of a bunch of strange people (voted #1 for being weird at some point) :rotfl2:

The weather for the week looks like this:

Mon- 68, chance of showers~~Tue- 72, times of sun~~Wed- 76, nice & sunny~~Thu-76, mostly sunny~~Fri-67, rain

But this most likely will change......."IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE WEATHER IN OREGON>>>>>WAIT 5 MINUTES!!" :lmao:

So what kind of work do you do (the training) and what state are you from??

Weather in Boston

Wed: Hot as Hell. Thur: Hot as Hell and humid. Fri: Hot as Hell and t-storms.

Weeks like this make me miss when we were in WDW Dec of 2010. Who ever wishes to go to FLA to get cooler?

And quit stealing the New England motto. :rotfl2:

I prefer HDDR over the Luau because I am prissy and hate to eat outdoors with the bugs and elements. Show wise, they are both great!

That's great about Derek! My son wants to do their culinary program. Here is info about it. http://culinary.disneycareers.com/en/default/ He's never had any kind of training except for creating food at home. He was allergy tested for 120 things and was allergic to 80 of them. He has come up with interesting recipes for what he can eat.

Weather here is hot with chance of rain all week, possibly 10 inches over this week.

I am a pharmacist by training, but currently a SAHM taking care of and homeschooling my son. Transplant to FL from PA.

Hey, just had a thought......with you being in Boston.....do you happen to have a pictures of Fenway Park?? My step-dad (the one that just passed) grew up in Conn. and loved the Red Sox to the day he died. I would love to include some decent pics in a "memorial" thing I'm putting on my wall. We actually got him a Bill Buckner autographed shirt, when he was in Medford at my son's work a few years ago. We framed it for him & he loved it.....even though it brought back sad memories of the World Series.

Thanx for the link.....wonder if that's what they were talking about for him.....wow what an opportunity that would be!!! :woohoo:

Oh man, your poor son!!! I thought I had it bad with the twins and their allergies to wheat, egg, peanuts & tree nuts!! (milk & soy too....but that just gives them a runny nose)......80 things??!! I couldn't imagine!

10" of rain in a week.....I thought we got a lot of rain in Oregon....I stand corrected!! :rotfl2:

Well, Yee Haw!! We done got ourselves an ADR for the Hoop Dee Doo Revue at the Ft. Wilderness Resort & Campground!!

I decided to make the change and cancelled our Luau on our first night in town. We've been to Hawaii & to a real luau, and I think we might have been disappointed. I love the music & dancing....but the menu was :confused3 alright? Nothing special.......

So now we'll do the HDDR, with going with the 8:30pm show, we actually could get Category 1 seating......so that was nice!! We had cancelled going to the Whispering Canyon BBQ......so this will be a nice replacement. From what I've seen and the looks of the food offered....it looks closer to the BBQ held at Disneyland that we love!!!!

Yummo!!

So once I get our CP ressie.....my ADR's should be set in stone!!! The only one that could be swapped out is our Plaza Inn at MK. If the Be Our Guest restaurant opens in time, and we're lucky enough to get a dinner ADR......then that would be the one we'd dump. Otherwise.....I'm gonna step away from the dining reservations and relax, knowing we did good!!!!
(of course if Mia comes to live with us, then I'll have to call Disney Dining for some help in upping our party from 7 to 8 on all of the ADR's) :rolleyes1

We aren't sure how many of them are true allergies though. He is severely allergic to latex and butyl rubber. When they make the allergy panel, someone draws the solutions from a larger bottle. There could be cross contamination with rubber stoppers, and not true allergies from what the allergist told us. Will just be another challenge to conquer since he wants to be a chef. I use to sit on pins and needles with his allergies, ready to put him in a plastic bubble almost, but he's done so well and just won't be able to taste alot of the food. Smell of the food allergens have never bothered him thankfully! We pray he outgrows them. He can now eat grapes if they are cooked and denatured, so he can eat alfredo sauce now! Soy and peanuts are completely out, but he's able to eat other legumes now that he couldn't eat before like peas!

It's from a tropical storm. It's hurricane season in Fl. We had such a dry winter and spring though.

If you have an Ollies Store near you, they have FATHEADS on sale for 7.99, they have a great one of Fenway Park.

IDK if you'd be interested in something like that, but figured I'd mention it.

Congratulations!!! I hope you enjoy the show!! It's a nice boat ride from the MK to Ft. Wilderness! We've had lots of fun each time we ate there! We took a boat ride there the first time. The 2nd time we drove and that was an adventure! We didn't realize that you park down in a big parking lot, then have to hop on the right bus to get you to the Hoop dee doo. Maybe things have changed since then though?

I hope you can snag a Be Our Guest ADR between now and then! The Plaza is great. Chef Ken and Chef Connie are awesome with food allergies!

Oh that's right......I forgot about hurricane season.....hope Derek has fun with that!!! :rotfl2:

Sounds like it would be worth doing skin testing on your son. How old was he when they did the testing?? They say, you can outgrow some of them. We're hoping to do the skin testing on Shyann later this year to see if she's still having troubles with everything. She was allergic to eggs as an infant....if she picked up just a crumb of say a muffin....she'd be projectile vomiting across the room for the day & hives. Now she's actually snuck/grabbed like a viper a piece of cake.....and no reaction. We're hoping eggs will be something she can tolerate!!

We don't have one of those stores (I've never heard of them)....but I am aware of Fatheads......I hadn't thought about doing one of those!! Thanx for the suggestion!! Red Sox was HIS team.....not mine :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

We might need to look into that. We had planned on driving since we'll be at DTD for the day. Guess I'll need to be looking at a lot of those types of things to make sure we get from point A to point B on this trip.

The Plaza food looks ok, but nothing spectacular.........We've found most of the Disney Chefs to be amazing when it comes to allergies!!!

Wo-Hoo for Hoop De Doo!!!!

It was truly a highlight of our trip in '09. Even my hubby had fun! I just hope it goes as well the second time!

One thing not on the menu that was fantastic is there loaded potato soup! I discovered that while looking through the allergy book they handed us.

He had the skin tests done 5 years ago.

There are quite a few foods that cause an allergic reaction in his gut, but no hives or anything. The allergic gave him a prescription for Gastrocrom. He would drink it before he ate and it helped.

He carries an Epi-pen for latex.

OH MY GOD!!!! Those buckets look delicious. I love kielbasa and brown beans... And with corn bread for dipping? That is just a yummy hat trick. I've been trying to subtley hint at the possibility of HDDR. I see now, I have to be a little more deliberate.

Do you think the food compares to the BBQ at DL??

We have a loaded baked potato soup at the Carnation Cafe at DL.....everyone raves about it, but I've never had it. The recipe was actually put together by a Chef that has worked at DL for 55 yrs!!
Here's an article on him! He's amazing & does a lot of PR now with the guests!!

I'll definitely keep an eye out. If I come across any, Fenway pics, I'll find a way to post them so you can take them.

Thank you!!

That was from the DL BBQ.....but the food from the HDDR looks very similar!!
