Is it December Yet?? Cancelled with a Heavy Heart!

If I can be of any help, just let me know. I've been at six, maybe 7?, times these same dates so might be able to help with what is will be like at Osborne Lights or the Christmas Party or when the MK is most crowded etc...you know where to find me...and my email address is on FB too. I am sure you have lots of good help already though...but just in case.:goodvibes

Oh, what fun!! Will look forward to hearing all about the "special event". Great idea, Laurie!:lovestruc

Oh you know if I have some specific questions & you haven't replied in a while....I'll hunt you down!! lol :rotfl2:

Is the Christmas party packed?? I would think it would be a certain number of guests allowed (I'm sure a BIG number, but still.......) but I hope it's not Wall to Wall people!!

We're preparing for our big day......I had Addy shower & then I put styling gel and spun small sections of her hair and pinned it to her head in hopes of giving her some curls for the Elks Easter Party this afternoon. She has the straightest, finest, baby silky hair. It's so hard to use barrettes or clips because it's so soft & fine and thin........so will be interested to see if this works to give her different look. I'm not very "girlie" myself, so this is all new....no guarantees she won't be putting her head under the faucet right before the party if this doesn't work!! :rotfl:

Got the eggs cooked for dying later & got the main course for our Disney dinner prepped & ready to be thrown in the oven. :woohoo:

Now to relax for a short bit before all the festivities begins!! :surfweb:

I'm not sure how many tickets Disney releases for MVMCP, but once they sell out, thats it. Lots of the MVMCP dates do sell out, so you definately want to buy the tickets ASAP once they go on sale.

So glad you decided to do a Disney dinner & movie night! We never do activities with ours, so I will be excited to read about yours. How often do you plan on doing them?

Okay... I had/have the same fine type of hair...

I used to use these soft foam rollers (I think you can still buy them at walmart for pretty cheap) they were pink. Roll the hair in them while wet and then sleep with them in. In the morning make sure the hair is dry before taking them out.. And presto curls!

The other option is to do kinky hair and do all kinds of small braids when the hair is damp and you will have lots of kinks when you unbraid the hair...

Avoid a weekend night, if possible! It can be crowded, but even more so on the weekend...you arrive on the 7th, so buy tkts for the one they have midweek - haven't check if the tkts are on sale yet...we do not buy ours all that far in advance and in 4 MVMCP it has never been sold out (but it can happen, esp on a weekend)...we usually buy it a month or 2 ahead.:thumbsup2

Can't wait to see pictures!! I have the exact same baby fine (and not much) hair...even now...could never use curlers when I was younger b/c they would fall out as my hair dried.

Got the eggs cooked for dying later & got the main course for our Disney dinner prepped & ready to be thrown in the oven. :woohoo:

I am so excited about your Disney Movie Event!!

We'll be watching for them to go on sale......hopefully during the time we're going, we won't have maxed out party nights.

I'm about ready to report of on our evening. I think we'll do this monthly.....might add more as our dates get closer...but with baseball season getting ready to gear up......I think once a month will be good!!

Okay... I had/have the same fine type of hair...

I used to use these soft foam rollers (I think you can still buy them at walmart for pretty cheap) they were pink. Roll the hair in them while wet and then sleep with them in. In the morning make sure the hair is dry before taking them out.. And presto curls!

I've thought about the rollers........the twisting didn't work for her.....after 6 hours & some blow drying.....her hair was still wet and the gel made her hair gooey. I'll give the rollers a shot next time we have time to play with her hair.

We've done braids & undid them the next morning & her hair looks cute!!

I am so excited about your Disney Movie Event!!

Fun night.......uploading pics right now!!

Our First Disney Theme Night was a SUCCESS!!!!!

What have I been thinking up to this point, not to have done this before now??? It was fun planning, the kids loved it & Mike and I enjoyed playing & doing the stuff with them.

So our theme was MONSTER'S, INC.

With it being the day before Easter, I had to be able to incorporate egg coloring into our plans. So after reading thru the thread on theme nights, I finally came up with a movie that would work. I used some of the ideas I found in that thread, tweaked them & did it our way. So this is how it went.

So I got a couple poster boards, one to post our schedule:

008-2.jpg

and one to draw up our Laugh Meter canister.

011-1.jpg

#1 on the schedule was Randall's Color Changing Eggs. Randall was the chameleon-like monster.......so it worked nicely into dying eggs. Here's the table set up & ready to welcome the kids.

006-2.jpg

I have to share a little news regarding this next picture........this was the first time Shyann has actually helped with the eggs!!!!! She did a great job, stirring the egg in the glass & I'd ask if she was done & she'd use the spoon to pull it up & look and either say done or more. (huge deal for us!!)

012-1.jpg

Addy & Anthony dying eggs.

013-1.jpg

Here's Shy showing off one of her eggs!

014-1.jpg

Even Michayla sat at the table, taste-testing a sucker (also a big deal!!):

015-1.jpg

Addy & Anthony doing a good job on their eggs.

Shyann thinks this egg needs more.

Michayla still enjoying her sucker!!

Here's their eggs........BEAUTIFUL!!

022.jpg

023.jpg

While the egg dying was going on, Mike worked on cooking the potatoes & the meatloaf was in the oven (I had prepared them earlier in the day & they just needed to be popped into the oven to be cooked).

Time for dinner:
Boo's Baby Meatloaf (meatloaf cooked in muffin tins)
Mr Waternoose's Lumpy Grumpy Potatoes (garlic mashed potatoes)
Sulley's Sauce (applesauce with blue food coloring)
Celia's SSSSSssssssoda (can of soda)

025.jpg

026.jpg

The kids LOVED this dinner!!! Anthony had 3rds, Addy actually ate her dinner & Shy even ate her meatloaf (had to make her's wheat & egg free) & had 3 helpings of the sauce!!

Time to check our laugh meter.............

027.jpg

With #1 & #2 being complete it was time to sit down & watch Monster's Inc.

028.jpg

036.jpg

Family time is awesome!!

035.jpg

Towards the end of the movie, we decided to get Michayla fed so she could go to bed. She was definitely acting tired. While Mike fed her, I set up the table for #4. Once the movie was over & Michayla was tucked into bed......the kids joined Mike & I at the table to do Roz's Paperwork.

But first a look at the Laugh Meter:

034.jpg

Here's the table set up:

029.jpg

030.jpg

Everyone is given a piece of paper & you draw a monster body shape.......just a body shape...nothing else (no facial features, arms, legs, etc). I had tags for arms, legs, eyes, nose, mouth, horns or ears. I'd pull a tag and announce what we would be drawing onto our monster. Each person rolls the dice to see how many of each of those features your monster would get. So everyone's monsters end up with different amts of eyes, arms, mouths, etc. (individual)

037.jpg

About half way through the process:

These pictures are now hanging on my front room wall for the next few days!!

We got the pictures & crayons off the table & then it was time for Mike's Monstropolis Sundae!!!!!

I went to the Dollar Tree and picked up a big clear plastic bowl. I also had picked up a bunch of different candies/toppings (Swedish Fish, Gummy Lifesavers, Nerds, Hershey Chocolate Bar & bunny Marshmallows) We also used chocolate syrup, caramel syrup & a can of whipping cream!!

047.jpg

We scooped a ton of vanilla ice cream into the bowl & put the sweet toppings into a dish.

048.jpg

Addy started the toppings with the chocolate syrup.

050.jpg

Anthony added the caramel topping.

051.jpg

Shyann added the Swedish Fish (she tested a few of them & then threw them into the bowl.....lol)

052.jpg

Addy added the Nerds.

053.jpg

054.jpg

Anthony added the gummy Lifesavers.

055-1.jpg

056.jpg

Mike added the Hershey Chocolate bars.

057.jpg

Shyann added the marshmallows.

058.jpg

059-1.jpg

Then I emptied a whole can of whipped cream on the top!!

061.jpg

This is the what our HUGE sundae looked like!

062.jpg

063.jpg

064.jpg

The kids found this to be pretty yummy!!!!

065.jpg

066.jpg

This was what was left over (but Ty & Derek came home & finished it off).

067.jpg

SUCCESS!!!!!!!

What a fun night!!! I can't wait to figure out our next Disney night!!!

This looked like such a fun night Laurie!! The kids looked like they had so much fun! How awesome that Shyann and Michayla got involved too, must feel so good to see them take steps like that. :goodvibes

That sundae was huge and sounded so good! I can't wait until Seth is a little older to do theme nights with.

Laurie, that was fantastic! :goodvibes I love your creativity! I know the thread here on the Dis and unfortunately by the time I found it and thought of doing theme nights, Andrew was just too old! Our theme nights consist of me trying to recreate recipes!

I cannot wait for your next one! :thumbsup2

Laurie, you are AMAZING!!!! What a fun night - so clever and creative and yet fun for every age group - I love your family. :lovestruc (If I come back in another life I want you as my mom!;) )

In the next few months it's going to be fun to see what you come up with for each Disney Movie Night. Wish we could do something like this for Sophia...but she has little to no interest in movies...we could do a Mickey's Clubhouse though...I am going to be taking notes and saving some of your ideas. ::yes::

WTG!! HUGE sucess!!:woohoo:

Thanx Vicki!! It was fun....the older boys ate the dinner but then went to the movies.....but they were happy to get home & find some of the sundae leftover!!

Mike & you would have fun getting together and cooking.....he's a foodie & likes to recreate meals too!!

I was impressed at how well Shyann did with the egg coloring!! She was so attentive to her eggs!! Michayla sat in the chair and watched as she licked on her sucker for a good 15-20 minutes (and that's impressive!!)

Paradise Pier Hotel's PCH Grill has the Kitchen Sink sundae & our family got on back in 2010. There were 8 of us eating on it & we still didn't finish it up......lol
