Is it December Yet?? Cancelled with a Heavy Heart!

There is a reserved viewing area for Illuminations if you do the CP package, BUT, anyone from any of the 3 shows can be in that viewing area, so, it may be a bit crowded. There is no real seating in the area.

They will announce the narrarators probably mid or late June and packages will go on sale probably late July.

If doing the dining plan, you will use 2 TS credits per person. There wont be any payment required when booking (unless something changes this year).

Gotcha.....a reserved area is nice but only if it comfortably holds everyone.

:cool1: Can't wait to see who will be the narrators!!! :yay:

I have this dinner down for 2 credits......so we're set!!!

When they do a credit card hold on the reservations......do they actually charge your card?? Also, can the credit card be a Visa debit card?? We don't have credit cards.

For the ADRs that require a credit card, they do not charge anything at the time of booking. I used a mastercard debit card for all of mine so no problem there.

When you have to cancel still seems to be a gray issue from what I am reading. Many are saying 48 hours (or one full day in advance of the reservation). So far I don't see that no show fees have been charged if one person in the party doesn't make the reservation.

Whew.....good to know!!!

I'm not planning on cancelling, so hopefully we won't incur any charges.....of course you never know about something happening while we're there. If I know I'd be charged $80 for a no-show with my family of 8.....I think I'd drag even the sickest person there.......lol :sick::rotfl:

I saw where someone else answered about the CC hold on the ADRs that require one. I read a PTR from another lady who is going in Sept/Oct and her ADR date was today. She was booking restraunts where quite a few required the CC for cancelation. She said she was unable to book any of those today b/c she did not have the money on her CC and while they are not charging the amount, they were testing the card to make sure it works and it kept coming back declined. She had 10 ADRs requiring the CC. I'm not sure what amout they were testing with, but she said she had NO money on that card avail at the time.

My Oct trip booking date is the 20th, assuming we can get Ohana and CM, we will have 2 requiring that CC to hold. I can let you know what shows up on my bank statement b/c we would be using our debit card too. If anything, its a temporary hold...but still, need to know for sure. My Dec trip has quite a few requiring the CC, so I need to be prepared and move money from savings if needed.

 YIKES!! I hope that's not the case.....I'm not sure I'll have that kind of money on the card at that time or not & most of my ADR's will need it!! I can see them processing a hold of a dollar (we have gas stations that do that) just to make sure it's a valid card #.......but if they put an $80 hold on each one or est. dinner amts we're in trouble unless I get my inheritance or adoption credit back by then!!! I have 8 character meals!!!! :scared1:

I didn't have any money on my CC when I booked, and I have only had money on there a couple times since, and I was still able to book, and my reservations are still there, so I hope there are no problems.

Andrea is yours a CC or a Debit card?? Maybe if its a Debit card they do put a hold on it for each reservation but they don't on the credit cards?? You know....I think I may call Disney Dining and get some clarification on this..........

Mine is just a credit card. I don't think our debit cards are able to work like that. I wish they did. That would make things so much easier.

Ok, so I just got off the phone with Disney Dining.

As for the Credit Card Guarantee: Debit cards are fine if they have the Visa or MC logo. They just have to be valid cards. They DO NOT CHARGE anything to your cards when you call or offer if online for the guarantee. They will run a $0.00 to make sure it's a valid account.

The only time they will charge is if you are a no show or don't cancel within the agreed upon time in the new credit card guarantee policy.

Your card will be charged if you're making a reservation for something that has to be pre-paid.

So......I feel much better knowing the facts!!

Just talked to the girl I mentioned in the earlier post about not being able to book her ADRs today because her card was declined. She said that the CM was not trying to charge anything on it, but he told her he just needed to make sure it was valid and since it had $0 avail it could not be verified. So...nothing is supposed to be charged.

That's weird that you'd use a card with $0 available......even if they did it like the gas companies around here......they do a $1.00 transaction just to make sure it's a valid account/card. I couldn't imagine using a card with absolutely nothing on it. But it's weird that a zero charge would be denied on an acct with zero in it.....but then again....it does kinda make sense. A zero balance in an acct (if a debit card) could mean the acct is closing out.

So it was good to go over that & how to do the ressies when we have 2 pkgs. Supposedly the 2nd package is tied to mine but will be checking with my Travel Agent to make sure it is!!

 Laurie!! Finally found your WDW PTR! Better late than never! :rotfl:

I am so excited about your family's first WDW trip!

Hoping we will get to meet! Right now our dates are still 12/6 to 12/11 so we'll find a way. We will do whatever is most convenient for you.:thumbsup2

Was thinking we'd also be at FQ, but my friend really wants to stay at the Art of Animation Resort - it will depend on the discounts offered. Probably none or or not more than 5% for AOA, but it's not expensive away so we might just try it to see a brand new resort.

Will catch up reading later today...must hop in the shower right now.

So happy for your family!!! It is a great time of year to visit with all the holiday decorations and goings on. Early Dec is no longer an off season resort cost or crowd levels, but still a fun time to visit.

I'm very excited that we'll be getting to meet!!! The AofA looks so cute.....I'll be excited to see your pics (or maybe we can meet over at your room, so I can get a look inside!!)

Well figure something out on meeting up as the time gets closer (unless you would like to join us for a meal & then we'd need to figure that out before June). We're doing 8 character meals & you'd be more than welcome to join us at one if you'd like!!!! :woohoo:

:santa: Looking forward to going for the holidays........I'm not sure DL or WDW really has an "off-season" anymore.....but lower crowds will be nice!!

Of course you can come to see our room if we stay at AOA! And I am sure we'd love to join you all for a Character Meal! What fun that would be. ::yes:: You can let me know which ones you're planning and when and then we can see which will work best.:thumbsup2 What fun this is going to be!:dance3: Maybe we can even spend some park time together. :)

(p.s. Crowds are much busier in early December than when I first made a Dec trip in 2004 - back then it was great, but every year the crowds have grown, so you might want to keep an eye on www.easywdw.com for the free crowd levels. I'm not one to use those, but am going to keep an eye on it for this December trip.

Now I can go back and start at the beginning of your PTR!

When I get our schedule ironed out, I'll let you know!! It would be great to have you join our family for a meal and maybe more!!!! :yay: Woo Hoo, I can't wait!!!! :woohoo:

I don't buy into programs for touring and such......I think reading and planning is the best way to be prepared. If they're free, I'll check them out and what they think is the best parks to go on which days......but we'll deal with crowds all days & all parks......so we'll be ready for that. It will be better than going closer to Christmas & since we've never gone to WDW........I'll just base busy time crowds at Disneyland to what we'll probably experience at WDW.....if its less than BONUS!!!

Toally agree with you about reading and planning! The one I posted is free (one of my favorite words!), so for me, I figure it is worth taking maybe the week before I leave just to get a feel for what the crowds might be like. Of course, I always forget.:rotfl: I was thinking if we happen to be in the same park, the same day and run into one another, then we might go on whatever attraction you're heading to next all together. :thumbsup2

You know, I've never been to DL when the lines were short - but we did usually go in the summer, though we tried to avoid Saturdays.

Yeah, it will not be as busy as a busy day at DL and you are going a really good week!

Today I should really have time to catch up and see what you are planning! Rosie and should start talking about what ADR's we might want, but it's still early. You are going to have so much fun!!:woohoo:

I hope the crowds are low......it would be nice to get on the things we want without long waits, get into shows easily & get all the ressies we want.

I also want to be able to enjoy all the holiday decorations, treats and special entertainment without the twins feeling panicky & closed in on. We'll prepare for the worst & anything less will be welcomed warmly!!!

So after reading some other PTR's......I am going to do a Disney Movie Theme Night tomorrow!!!! I'm really excited to give it a try. I took some ideas from the thread sharing ideas on these. We're doing Monster's Inc. I even incorporated dying Easter eggs in to the plans.

We'll do 2 activities, movie, dinner & dessert all within the theme. I'll share what we do & pictures after the event!!!! I think I'm more excited then my kids are....but I didn't tell them exactly what we were doing & since this is new.....they have no idea what to expect.

If I can be of any help, just let me know. I've been at six, maybe 7?, times these same dates so might be able to help with what is will be like at Osborne Lights or the Christmas Party or when the MK is most crowded etc...you know where to find me...and my email address is on FB too. I am sure you have lots of good help already though...but just in case.:goodvibes
