Is it December Yet?? Cancelled with a Heavy Heart!

Really anywhere around the World Showcase. But it does get crowded. Best advice is to get there early and stake your claim to a spot right on the railing! Lay down blankets and get comfy with some snacks! Actually just thought of something ... when you get the GAC, do you also use the stoller as a wheelchair? I believe there are special handicapped viewing areas. Hopefully someone else will chime in on that.

Best spot is right in the middle across the lake from the American Adventure. But really there isn't a bad view anywhere. Many people like the bridge between France and the UK pavillions but we have never watched from there so I can't say what the view of the Globe is like.

Yes, the GAC will be the stroller as wheelchair......that's their escape from the craziness. I hadn't thought about special viewing areas!! So it can be seen from anywhere around the lake?? That's good to know!! thanx Vicki!!

Personally I've heard the Fireworks cruises are pretty awesome and I would try for that! The Dessert Party I've heard still gets crowded at the front and the desserts are Meh... Also the view is from the side... Not sure how the view is from the cruise though either...

Sorry... no help! Lol

I agree with this

Have not heard many good things about the dessert party, but the firework cruise is supposed to be great:thumbsup2

I imagine the desserts are probably like the one you get at Disneyland for the Fantasmic Dessert Seating. We do it more for the seats then the food. If you can get a decent view of the fireworks & not deal with wall to wall people.....it probably will be a good thing for our family. I know Addy will flip when Tink flies right over her head!!!

The cruise looks pretty good as well.....so its a matter of money......do I want to dole out $363 to do the cruise??

Joining your PTR. :wave2: Read the first few, middle few, and last few pages so far. We're also DLR people heading to the World in December (1-15), and its great to see what other people are considering!

I had my heart set on an Illuminations cruise but now the reports on this PTR are making me reconsider the Wishes cruise instead - the water pageant is one of the main things I'm really excited about seeing. Oh, the power of the DIS. :rotfl:

:wave2: Welcome!!! We're even going around the same time!!

We're still trying to decide what to do on those.....they're not cheap.....but this is kinda a "go big or go home" type trip.....so I want to do some nice things that might even make it easier on the twins.

The problem I'm having now is finding the right days to do the MK. I found something to listed out the best days to go & the worse. The best days are the days that they held the parties on last Dec. We plan on doing the party once....but don't want to do our 2 full days at the MK on party days. We'd have to leave early & they wouldn't be offering the regular fireworks show....so looking at the cruise or dessert party would be useless information. The off days (non-party) days are considered the worse days to go.....so what to do.....what to do??

We are also considering the Wishes fireworks cruise. As of right now I have it planned on our rest day. We are hoping to go to the early Luau and then do the fireworks cruise afterwards.

Oh, neat idea!!! So you can do the cruises without a park ticket for that day?? Hmmmmm, definitely gives me more options!!!

Hi Laurie I made it!! I just skimmed through real quick as I have to leave for the dentist but everything sounds great and it was fun seeing some of your older trips!! I wasn't going to say anything but SO glad you switched from POP!!

We were there in 2008 and stayed in our timeshare but it is only good for a week so while part of our group went home mom shane and the girls and I stayed 2 extra days. Well we stayed and you are right the beds were horrific! Small and like a rock! THe rooms were tiny also and probably we got spoiled but it was really dissapointing. I have stayed at contemporary and the coronado and both were better in my opinion.

Haven't stayed at Port Orleans but always wanted to.

I think you will enjoy it!! Have lots more to say but have to run!

Can't wait to follow this as well!! :)

Welcome Kelly!! :wave2:

The double bed thing was really bugging me.....I'm in love with the look of the French Quarter & it will bring some wonderful memories of dad & I attending Jazz Festivals. It will also give us a little piece of "home" (DL-New Orleans Square) as we visit a whole new world!!

Yeah, you definitely do not need a park ticket. When I did a Wishes cruise we boarded at the doc at Contemporary. Another option is to view them from the beach at Poly. They pipe in the music. You can see the water parade from there as well.

You are going to have a great time at POFQ! I bet they decorate it beautifully for Christmas!

AWESOME News!!! I may rethink some things. Right now on our off day, we plan on doing the Christmas Party....but might change off days and do the cruis instead & do the Christmas Party on a day we're already doing the MK. Have to give it some thought and try to come up with plan that will work for our family.

Thanx for that information!!!

I'll read about DL, I love photos, and I don't know when I'll ever get a chance to go there.

Cool......hopefully you'll get a chance to go......you'd think being in Texas it would be closer to go to California.....but maybe not? (my geography & sense of directions & such isn't always the best.....lol)

A couple questions:

1. Last year the Christmas Party at MK was held on Su-Tu-We-Fr.....do you think those will be the same days they'll do this year??

2. Do the EMH's always follow the same pattern of days?? If so, what is it?

3. Do you think it's better to do the ADR's online or over the phone?

4. It looks like character meals are the ones I may want to book first. Out of these meals & non-character meals.....which ones do I need to try for first??

Akershus Princess Brkfst, Chef Mickey Brkfst, Garden Grill Dinner, Ohana Brkfst, Tusker House brkfst, Crystal Palace brkfst, 1900 Park Fare Brkfst, 1900 Park Fare Dinner, Boma dinner, Biergarten Candlelight Processional Dinner, 50's Prime Time Dinner.

5. How far out can you book the fireworks cruise or Illuminations cruise?

6. Do they have wheelchair viewing areas for Wishes or Illuminations??

Thanks for any help you can offer!!!

I can kind of answer one question. I booked all my ADR's online (you'll have to do the firework type ones over the phone I think), and it was really easy and didn't have any problems. I was even able to put a type of celebration in for each of them!

I will let you know when we get back how it all turned out, if you like.

I believe I read you can do the online one hour earlier than the calling.......of course I'm west coast time, so this will be in the middle of the night for me...so I want to make sure I do this right & in the right order to have the best shot of getting our ressies!!

Did you get a confirmation for each reservation or for the whole grouping you did in one sitting??

Did you do any that you had to put in a credit card guarantee?? If so, did you have to enter the info over & over & what about when you're using a dining plan?? So confused!!

I do all of my ADRs online. It opens at 6am EST. You can log in to the site before that and when you try to make a reservation there will be a link that says "do you want to use your dining plan" or something like that. When you click that link you enter your reservation number and the date of your arrival. You can do all that before 6am EST. Then at 6am EST, you can beging making your ADRs. You will have to enter your credit card info and address for each one requiring a credit card (all character meals). It is a bit of a pain. You do get an confirmation number for each one but they are emailed to you as well. Plus after they are all made, you can click on the My Reservations and see them all. For some reason I haven't been able to print them from there ... I have to copy & paste into Word. But then I just print out the whole list.

There is wheelchair viewing for Illuminations, I believe right in the center area. I am sure they have it for Wishes as well, probably around the HUB. That is where it is for the afternoon parade.

I have never been to the Christmas Party so I am no help there. For EMH, I always look at the previous years dates for when I am going to be there and plan around those. For our dates in August, the EMHs were all the same as last years.

As for the order of the ADRs ... I really think if you are online right on your first day, you will get all that you want. Maybe hit 'Ohana first then Chef Mickey's. I have never done the Candlelight Processional so I am not help there either. Although I do think you can do it online, but under events, not the normal restaurant area. Still under the dining tab. The dessert party is booked that way as well but that doesn't usually book until 60-90 days before.

Hope this helps some!
