We have a new baby and have an opportunity to go to Disney. He would be 5 weeks old when we leave. We have two DS that will be 7 and 9 and are a great help. Mom is nursing and has no inabitions for nursing in public. Does anyone have any experience at this age and are there any problems with taking him on rides without height restrictions?:yay:

Not as long as Mom feels good. I took a 4 mo old, 4 year old and 8 year old with no DH along. Just the kids and me and it was the absolute best time we had at Disney. (no offense DH)

We took our 3 daughter when she was 9 weeks, it was a breeze, she was amazing. I wore her in the sling 99% of the time (we have very few pictures, because she was always in the sling). I nursed her everywhere we felt like it (even on some rides when I could).
I would leave it up to mom, if she feels good go. My first baby, there is no way I could of gone, but after the 2 and 3, I could of gone within a week. I jumped right back into life after the last two, I had no pain at all when we left the hospital (we discharged at 24 hours old too). But, with the first I felt knocked down for weeks.
The baby stations were great, but, we did not use it the first trip (when the baby was 9 weeks). She was portable, we just changed her in the stroller, (it was december, so it was not hot), ate when we wanted and had a great time.
Your older kids are much older too, where they will not depend so much on you. When we took our little one, her sisters were almost 2 and almost 3!! (they were good too), but I could only imagine with a 7 and 9 year old how much easier it would of been.
We are also not scared of germs, so for me that was a nonissue. The noise did not bother her, she rode everything without a height restriction (and most of the time she stayed in the sling through the ride). Taking a baby was easy!

I nursed everywhere too. I didn't find the nursing stations until the next year. Unfortunately, some of those rides aren't around anymore but we still tease my nearly 13 year old about A Small World putting him to sleep. I even bought a music box for him the first year. He would hear just a couple of notes and would be soundly out for a hour or more, even if he was hungry. :worship: to A Small World

its personaly not something i could do. with all 3 of our kids we got babysitters until they were 2 1/2.
but if you and your wife are up for it, then im sure youll have a great time.
as far as i know you can bring the baby on anything without a height restriction, but ive never seen that small of a child on anything.

I wouldn't do it, but you go ahead. Keep in mind that Baby has little immunity at this age, even though Mom is breastfeeding. Good handwashing and all :goodvibes

My oldest (who is now 8), made her first trip to EPCOT at 6 week. We had annual passes that were about to run out and we didn't want to miss the Flower Festival.

She was fine. We were careful not to go in the really loud and noisy attractions while she was sleeping (which was most of the time). The baby care center there is great. We didn't have any problem at all.

I would do it, just make sure your little one does not get too hot..other than that Have A Blast!!!

Yes, it is a little crazy, but if you feel up to it do it. Worst case Mom takes it easy and spends some time in the baby centers while the others go on more rides. I would look into a sling or some type of baby carrier that would make going from ride to ride easier. The baby should be able to go on almost anything without a height restriction.

As PP said, the baby won't have a lot of immunity by then so be very strict about letting anyone touch the baby.

Yeah, ITA. I would not do it. That's a really young baby to expose to germs etc. Plus if you're staying in a hotel, you have to figure that the baby will be up several times a night (esp. a nursing infant....when DD was a few weeks old I was up every 2 hrs nursing) and I think you have to be respectful of the people staying in rooms on either side of you. Of course any child at any age can get up and have a crying fit in the middle of the night but the odds are much much higher with a newborn. Just something to think about.....

I think this is a personal decision - no way could I do it! I'm a germophobic and would not want a 5 week baby near all of those people. You KNOW how people are when they see a newborn. They just have to get a close up look and start touching them.... I would also worry if you are staying in one hotel room. You are going to be getting up with a crying infant pretty often and if you are all in the same room, everyone is going to be up. Just some thoughts....

We went in February with a 1 week old, 1 yr old, 2 yr old, and 4 yr old. It can be done! And we had a great time.

Nope. Not a great idea. Why would you want to be in a crowded amusement park with a newborn?

If you look at my pic below, you will see me with my 1 month old :) Who is turning FIVE tomorrow :scared1:

She was perfect on that trip. There will be people, probably, who will post about how they wouldn't and all that, but if you feel up to it and you know what you should do to protect baby, keep hydrated, all that, then I really see no problem. I took her on just about every ride that I could. I mean, obviously nothing fast, but in that pic we are on the TTA, we went on Snow white, peter Pan, small world, etc. We even went on the Safari at AK, I think that was the fastest/bumpiest ride I brought her on.

She was perfect, and I nursed as well it was soo much easier than dealing with bottles in the park, I think.

We took our second baby when he was six weeks old. It was great because he either nursed or slept the entire time. Have fun!

Personally, I wouldn't take such a young baby to such a crowded place. I would be concerned about germs, overheating and his general well-being. But, many people do it with no problems. It depends on your comfort level.

I think it would also depend on how easy it will be to get back there someday. It's such a long trip for us (from Calif.) and can be quite expensive. We purposely waited until our boys were 8 and 11 so they could do everything and really enjoy it. We don't know when we'll get back there again but we're happy that our trip was so great for all of us. :yay:

I say if mom feels up to it then go ahead and make the trip, I took my 6 week old son and we had a great time. I swear it was easier to take a newborn than a toddler.

As long as people keep their hands to themselves LOL, I'd go in a second! It will be so easy especially nursing so go and have a great time:goodvibes
