Is it appropriate to wear white shorts on a Caribbean cruise in December?

Packing now! We sail on the Fantasy to Western Caribbean in less than 2 weeks!
I don't have many shorts that fit me now due to weight loss. I bought a pair of white shorts in August that fit reasonably well, but I don't know if it's appropriate to wear white after Labor Day, even though it's the Caribbean.
What have you seen? What would you think if you saw someone wearing white shorts? Would you do it?
Thanks for your input.

Does anybody really care what other people are wearing. I think the no white after labor rule has been ignored for a few decades.

it will work, get a flowerdy shirt to go with and carry a sign that says "yes I am a tourist", just in case.

I always thought that was a joke, or something the uber rich discuss while on their yacht in Marthas Vineyard

Congrats on losing weight!

I live in Florida and I am wearing a white tank top under my light tan blazer with white floral designs and white flat shoes right now. We really don't go by the whole don't wear white after Labor Day thing here. The Caribbean and cruise ship will have lots of people wearing white and white shorts will be just fine there too.

Pack them! Just watch out for our cold fronts before the ship leaves Port C. or your legs could be cold. ;)

Trust me no one cares what you where. As long as you are comfortable and having good time that all that matters

I couldn't agree more. In sunny climates shorts of any color are appropriate!

Well, the officers on the ship wear white all year long :)

I don't know anyone that actually lives by that rule. I wear white shorts more than any other color and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to wear them in December in the caribbean or anywhere else that it was warm enough. Have fun and dont worry about it. :)

Wear whatever you wear in the summertime. That's what we do no matter when we cruise in the Caribbean. :)

I wore both white shorts and white capris on our Fantasy Eastern cruise last January. It seemed very natural in the lush surroundings of St. John. We're sailing on a western cruise this January and I plan to wear white again. FWIW I asked the same question on the Boards before our cruise last year and everyone said that it didn't matter. They were right. Have a great cruise!

That rule does not apply in Florida. It definitely doesn't apply on a cruise ship! ;)

This.
White shorts and flip flops at Xmas.
It's always summertime here lol.

BTW how does white snow/ski wear fall into the White After rule? Just curious.
