Is it always this crazy?

This is my first time really planning a trip. My DH likes to be spontaneous. :scratchin

So anyway, about the codes....I've been reading this board for about a week and I've managed to book a room only res. at the GF for 12/10/04 - 12/17/04. Started with the AAA rate and succeeded in getting the EWP code applied today. I don't actually have an AP yet. We're only doing this one trip and I guess I'd better get one before we go if I want to get that AP discount.

So tell me, is it always this crazy when the codes come out? What do you think is going to come out tomorrow? Is there a chance that the general public discount will be as good as the AP that I already have. What should I ask for? I don't have a disney visa so I don't think that the BAT code will work for me.

I live in California, should I get up at 4:00 am and check the board or call CRO and ask them what?

All help will be greatly appreciated. This has been quite an education so far.

Yes it is always this crazy when it comes to codes. We went through H*** planning our trip last May. We had multiple reservations using different discount rates (AAA, Travel Employee, Codes). It was extremely stressful and at the time I questioned whether it was worth it. Looking back I still question it. mousesavers.com is reporting a code for the general public for October through December. I think it is BAT. Check their site to be certain. If you want a specific resort you should call early. With record attendance in the last year, I am not certain how many rooms will be discounted. Good luck. Jay

LOL!! I'm with you, Wanna-B-Tink! FUN?!?!?

Hey, will you book an appointment for me when you get to the salon? And on your way out, step into the spa and put me down for a massage too! I've had about all of this "fun" I can handle. ;)

Aw, c'mon!:hyper:

Really, it is all worth it in the end!:D That first morning when we get up and we go through the gates of MK for the first time and DH starts his sprint for Space Mounatin, it is all so worth it!

I've been a passholder for years and it is has never been this crazy. Not sure what is up with the limited rooms.

I also think it has been a little worse this year. I think more emails and postcards went out this year leaving fewer AP discounts. I certainly could be wrong but I also have been doing this for several years and it seems to be there are fewer AP rooms this time around. Good luck everyone!

There! I just saved you some more money! ::yes::

It was this crazy when May/June rates were released. The big difference then was the DVisa rates came first (24% discount) and the APs came out much later (26% discount). The DVisa was very easy to obtain. I did NOT get an AP rate for Polynesian GVC because they were sold out for my dates at 7:03 a.m.! Further, there weren't any available AP rates that freed up either--I checked each day on it. Given the slight disparity in the discount, I didn't feel too badly--at least I wrangled something!

It surely appears that this fall, the rates (at least for Polynesian concierge) have been very difficult to come by just as they were for late spring. I am really going to have to stop talking that place up. . . :sad2: :sad2: . . .it's getting to hard to get a room let alone a discounted room. I'd sure hate to go back to the "old days" when concierge level service was rarely, if ever, discounted.

BTW, I've been playing this AP/code game for quite a few years, too. This is the first time I was shut out of an AP on our concierge stay at Polynesian AND I was on the phone very quickly the morning of release! I hope the masses decide to visit another resort in '05 so I don't have to stress over it so much. I hate it when some get a discount and I'm paying full price! I know that's petty, but what's a gal gonna' do. ;)

It just seems to me if the powers that be at Disney would lower the resort prices overall and do away with some of the discount codes then we all could visit more often without playing resort code roulette. We will spend the $$ in the parks anyway. It would make trip planning alot more enjoyable not worrying did I get the best code. Have a wonderful day everyone.
