Is it all going to come tumbling down? (Political)

Maybe it's me, but I am noticing that as Bush's popularity is dropping, so are the number of posts on a thread like this one in support of him.

Could it be that his supporters are beginning to realize that we are now on the way to having a recession due to his huge deficit?

That people are losing their jobs and finding interest rates rising?

That, maybe, people are starting to feel that the truth was not always being told?

I know that emotions have always run high when it comes to support or non-support of this administration but my main question is:

Are you better off now then you were 6 years ago??? Take a moment and consider this question, honestly.

We're much better off...........the president hasn't gotten a "lewinsky" in the Oval office. Yanno, that's all that matters. :rotfl2:

Sorry, I'm just savoring the moment.

I remember during the 2000 election that the reason that people voted for Bush was because he would bring honor and integrity back into the White House. I have yet to see that happen.

The Right is strangely quiet nowadays. Well, that is except for certain notable exceptions.

I think that their usual rhetoric is starting to sound hollow to many of them. As time passes, it's getting harder and harder to blame Clinton and many are realizing that maybe, just maybe the fella in the White House really has no clothes on.
No, we are just watching and waiting for ALL the information to come out before we make a judgement. As everyone here knows, it has turned into a feeding frenzy. Do I think everything is squeeky clean? No, but nor do I think it is some huge Watergate type scandal as it has been portrayed. I am reserving my comments until I know what happened. I wish others on both sides would do the same.

Feeding frenzy? I keep wondering why the Democrats aren't jumping on this with more gusto. They're being kind of quiet themselves for the most part which is odd.

Feeding frenzy was the continual harassment of Bill Clinton while he was in office. But then he did apparently ruin a dress. ;)

I don't recall the Democrats ever getting the fair treatment you wish for.

Well, in the Lewinsky case, I didn't make judgements until proof was out. I can't speak for everyone in that case. Like I said, I am reserving judgement until all the info is out. I am sorry if that is a letdown.

By the way ding ding ding, a lefty brought out Clinton.

I was just thinking the same thing. Usually the kool-aid drinkers are all over posts like this like white on rice, but they've hardly said a peep. Either they're asleep at the switch or it really means something. Hmmm.....

I believe in getting that one out of the way early. Then the REAL reasons for problems can hopefully be discussed.

I would say the frenzy is being driven by the "leaks" and the press. You don't think Bush had been harassed since day one?

Sorry, I'm still not getting too worked up over any of this. Bottom line... the press loves "blood in the water", period. It doesn’t matter who were talking about or the likelihood of the outcome.

I also can take a lot of "comfort" in the fact that the American Left seems to know no bounds when it comes to self-delusion over political outcomes. A year is an "eternity" in politcs... Bush 41 was enjoying record high approval ratings a year before his defeat. Also, even though the public perception of the GOP may down at this moment, the same surveys show that the Democrats are getting little, if any, windfall benefit from the GOP's problems because they still haven't been able to present a compelling alternative vision. "Bush Hating" and the Michael Mooronification of the party still isn't paying much dividends.

Michael Mooronification of the party
Interesting term. :confused3

Do the Republicans have an "alternative vision" at this point? Of course, they will also have to field a brand new candidate at the next election. You certainly can't say that all of these unfolding events won't affect the perception of the as yet unknown Republican candidate? Or any Republican candidates for other offices for that matter!

Of course all of this will have some affect. However, having Cindy Sheehan dictate policy to the Democrats, along with Soros, still scares the heck out of most Americans. As long as the Dems keep bowing down to pacify their extreme wing, I think the right is going to be ok.

The DEMS are pandering to their extreme wing of the party? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black! Good grief!

It's ironic that you would say that since many believe that the Republicans are doing the exact same thing.

As for Cindy Sheehan, I wonder if the average voter even pays attention to her? I would think that a scandal involving the President or those close to him would draw much more attention. But of course the public is fickle and unpredictable so who knows?

Well, I do think it does happen on both sides to some extent. However, Cindy is trying to get herself back into the news lately. Between the tying herself to the White House fence idea, and telling people not to support Hillary, unless she changes her mind about the war, I do think she is trying to dictate policy for the future. She, and those that back her, are most definately trying to tell the Dems what to do in no uncertain terms.

:rotfl: If this isn't the pot calling the kettle black, I'm not sure what is. :teeth: In case you hadn't noticed, the extreme fringe of the right has also taken over the Republican Party. The fact that anybody but a few complete whackjobs knows who James (Sponge)Dobson even is is "frightening" to this American.

It's also somewhat scary that you think Cindy Sheehan is "dictating policy" to anybody. Cindy happens to share a goal - that of seeing this useless and needless war ended before 2000 more names are entered into the rolls of the dead - with many democrats, that is true. But to say that she is "dictating policy" is ridiculous.

Ooops, let the agenda slip in there. Be more careful next time.

Notice how the talking points get more ridiculous by the minute, especially in light of the fact that mainstream America no longer supports the Bush folly in Iraq.

What was yesterday's talking points? Oh yeah, Rosa Parks died, Spike Lee went on a delusional tare, and on one talk show after another, the spiel was "oh my isn't it terrible the state of black leadership". :rotfl2:

Another round, Dubya. This one's on me. :drinking1
