Is it against DIS Board rules

There must be some, because there's a 'report this pm' button on the page, lol!

Good to know!

I never noticed that or I probably would have reported one that I got. It was extremely rude and violent.

Not sure, but it is rude and cowardly.

Edited to add- Really need to read the whole thread before I post, I thought you were saying someone called you a moron.

You need to be careful about PM's, and not say anything in them that you wouldn't want the whole world to see.

Awhile back, a poster and I were "having a difference of opinion" on a thread, so rather than keep it going in the thread I sent her a PM trying to explain more, and she actually copied and pasted it INTO THE THREAD. I didn't call her names, or anything of that nature, but I was still really surprised she would do that.

So, if you want to call someone a moron and don't care if they post your message for everyone to see, then go right ahead. ;)

This is something I would do. If I posted something on a thread and a moron felt the need to cowardly attack me in a private PM or write something that couldn't be publicly posted, I'd post it back into the thread for all to publicly read.

However, I have often wondered :scratchin if copying & re-posting something that was considered unpostable according to DIS regulations, whether I'd get dinged with points for posting it? And whether the Mods/WMs would ding the actual poster too, or just me for publicly posting it?

Does that make sense at all? :upsidedow

It hasn't happened to me yet. Although there are a few times where I've just rolled my eyes or said several swear words at my monitor :surfweb: over what moronically stupid things people have said to me and I stepped away from the keyboard. Their own idiocy would show itself in time. The latest that comes to mind is because of the bombing in Boston. A couple months ago, I was talking about the possibility of terrorism at other U.S. locations. That the National Guard comes into certain areas here in NYC for added security measures. A few people absolutely blasted me, first, saying how that terrorism is unlikely to happen in their city in U.S., and how I didn't know normal National Guard procedure or what weapon they carry, like I'm supposed to know that???

Now, about 24 hours ago, Boston has had the National Guard activated there and people have to see what I see and how frightening it is. Not something I ever wanted anyone else to have to see. And yes, terrorism does and unfortunately will keep happening in other parts of the U.S. It's a horrible wake up call to realize that no other city or town is immune anymore. This street bombing was an unfortunate precedent set here, and for some of us, one that wasn't unexpected. :sad1:

Guess again...

I wondered because on another non-Disney related board, I know mods and webmasters both accessed PMs. There was a HUGE stink. It taught me(no I wasn't involved) to never put anything in a PM that I would not put into a message.

I'm still sitting here shocked that someone would actually send a nasty PM to someone on here.

I it offended you then I would report if.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

I've had a few nasty pm's sent to me, yet I never felt the need to announce it on the DIS. I just ignored it and the poster got tired of talking with a brick wall.

On a teacher site I used to frequent, I once got a PM saying someone wished my cancer would return and kill me. You had better believe I quoted it, ver batim. If you're going to sink to that level of nastiness, let the world see you for who you are.

And, yes, apparently this person teaches children.

I received 1 here not long after I joined. Just figured the sender was either nuts or a very unhappy person. Their life is miserable enough without me reporting them.

If someone sent me a pm that was "violent", as you say above, it might be worth reporting if by violent you mean threatening. There's a huge difference between someone calling you a moron and threatening your safety. :confused3

HOLY CRAP!!!:scared1::scared1::faint:

WHO THE HECK DOES THAT????

I don't know how some of these thoughts even enter people's minds, yet alone seems appropriate to pass along.

And here I thought it was bad that I had a crazed person send me PMs because they didn't like my posts to the point that they had to call me some bad names. Apparently I shouldn't share that I one time did not receive connecting rooms, because it is highly offensive!!! And worth calling me some very foul language over.

I've been called worse here, LB. And if I recall from my moderator days here on the community board, they don't get involved with pm's. Been a lot of years since then, but that is my recollection.

I did, too back in the 'good ol' days" Dan...lol.

I just forwarded them to the webmaster and put them on ignore. You don't see the PMs of someone you have on ignore.

Oh, and BTW, I took a certain person OFF ignore and months of PMs popped up. They were just LOVELY :rolleyes2. By then the person had already died so no need to report him.... :coffee:

Good gracious. The nerve of some people.

I've never sent a nasty PM, nor have I had someone ever PM me nastily. I would like to keep it that way.

Yeah, I didn't feel the need to announce it, either. I just asked the question.
