Is it acceptable to take a 4 year old to Narcoosees?

I will have to disagree. I could most certainly hear the screaming child next to me at Narcoosees. Just because parents bring their children and allow them to behave inappropriately does not make that behavior right. Narcoosees is a signature restaurant for goodness sake, shouldn't people have the right to expect a meal with out screaming and in our case kicking coming from the next table?

Well, by "screaming" I meant in a playful way, as sometimes children are loud. I was not referring to loud crying, and certainly not kicking. My child is very well-behaved in restaurants and I would not take her if she was not. However, not everyone follows that philosophy and Narcoosee's is not so quiet that every peep from every child in the restaurant would be heard. In fact, there was a group of very loud adults making more noise than any child in the restaurant. I am completely with you on the inappropriate behavior not being tolerable, but the fact remains that there will always be some people who bring there kids to restaurants when they really should keep them at home because they are not well-behaved.

imho, the fact that you actually asked makes me think that your child will be fine there (obviously, you respect other diners & you've taught your child to behave appropriately ).
my big concern about little ones is not so much the noise or even the pungeant diaper of the one behind me last time (left most of my meal uneaten), but the ones running and/or playing tag through the restaurant. all it takes is one hot bowl of soup or pot of coffee......

We did Narcoosees on 2/6 and our DD4 was absolutely fine. We also did the Yachtsman steakhouse twice and she was fine there as well.

I have three boys including twins and they love Narcoose's. The first time we were there they were about 4. We have been back about 3 times since, they love the food, the special service the waitstaff has always given them and the food (the best macaroni & cheese around).

If I was to make any suggestion, it would be basic to all of your dining reservations and that's base your dining time on your child. For me, when I knew we wanted to dine late and/or be in a Park late we would go back to the hotel in the early afternoon for a nap or just some down time. I did this for my boys, not for anyone else.

As always, do what's right for your child and remember, it's Disney, not some adults only resort.

while we did not dine at narcoosee's on our recent trip, we thought nothing of dining anywhere with our 3 and 1 yr old children. they were angels - no matter the time/level of exhaustion/hunger level. for us, the same mealtime expectations apply no matter if we are home or fine dining.

it is WDW - the rugrats are everywhere !

Thanks for all the replies. DS 3 did great at Chefs last November, matter of fact he behaved better than some of the adults. LOL. I was just wondering if the 2 credit places were uptight about taking kiddos. We usually nap from 2-4 with him and head off to an early dinner well rested so I know he will be alright on that front I just didnt want to offend people looking for an adult romantic type dinner.

I totally agree. And as PP mentioned, the fact that you even asked this question, indicates your child won't be a problem! After all, it is Disney!!! Have fun!

Like Nike says, just do it! My youngest is 6 and we had 730 reservations to catch the MK fireworks too, which you may want to consider. They advised that dinner would be paced to accommodate viewing them.
Like others have said, it's not a quiet place regardless of age. There was a party of eight a few tables away having a rip roaring time!

It is my understanding the only restaurants that children are not allowed are Shula's and V&A.

My thought is this if they don't want children they will not offer childrens menu.

If somebody has a problem with children being there then they need not be at WDW.

Young kids are fine at any signature restaurant at WDW. I have never NOT seen them when we eat at a signature. You'll be fine.

At the risk of being flamed.......I agree that your child will undoubtedly do great at Narcoosee's, simply because you seem to be a parent who is not only concerned with your child's comfort, but you are also concerned with the comfort of your fellow diners.

That being said......I do not agree with several of the posters that assume, since it is WDW, that "all" children will be comfortable or welcomed by the other diners at a signature restaurant. I am sure we have all witnessed children at an upscale restaurant, who can literally terrorize everyone, and the parents do nothing or think their child's behavior is cute. I do not feel this is acceptable, especially when people are paying $75.00 or more for a meal they have planned for 180 days.

I guess what I am trying to say....be aware of your childs limitations and courteous of your fellow diners.

Just my opinion, and this post was not meant to offend, actually I commend the original poster for asking everyone for input before making her ADR.

I agree. The OP sounds like the sort who'd also remove their child from the situation before risking someone else's dining experience being ruined by a screaming, crying, tantruming child.

I saw children at all signatures we went to other than Jiko, and all of the kids we saw were very well behaved. However, even at Chef Mickey's, if your child is melting down the parent should remove the child from the situation. It's not good for the child or the other diners to let the child remain there while pitching a fit. (I am not talking about a child having the squirmies, I am talking about a child acting out of control) We've done this with our children and then brought them back when they could handle the meal. As a result our kids now behave when they dine out in public, or they know that they're leaving.

OP - thank you SO much for asking this question! We will be staying at the GF in Aug. and I would really love to dine at Narcoosee's, but was very concerned about taking our 2 toddlers (3 and almost 5 at trip time) with us. We thought about leaving them with an in-room sitter, but after a short discussion we decided that we simply wouldn't feel comfortable doing that.

Thanks to this thread, I think we are going to give it a try! We also are very considerate of our fellow diners (probably overly so), be it a counter service restaurant, a table service, or even our local diner! We will be thoughtful about when we plan our dinner (the earliest ADR possible on a very relaxed day so they are not overly tired), and should we have a problem it is out of the restaurant and up to the room if necessary!
