Is HS Afterhours Worth it?

Need help!!
I keep debating on whether or not I want to buy HS after hours tickets. We will be at Disney from July 20th - 28th. I have two rest days planned. Wednesday and then the Saturday before we fly out on Sunday. This would be on our Rest day, so it would give us some extra time in the parks, but would also kinda defeat the purpose of a rest day. We wake up early the next day for an ADR at Akershus at 8:00am.
If this was MK afterhours it would be a no doubt thing and I would definitely have booked this, but with it being HS, I'm on the fence about it. I shifted some Dining Reservations around to where we could possibly go to the Event if we decided we wanted to. I'm just scared it won't be worth it. My son is not a huge rollercoaster rider, but does enjoy slinky dog and Rise. (We also did Boo Bash back in 21 when Mickeys not so scary was canceled due to covid. He loved it, but that was our only experience for anything after hours)
Should I go for it and get them? Has everyone had good experiences so far at the afterhours event for HS?

So which day, Wed or Sat ?

I did it pre-Covid (and pre-Galaxy's Edge) and enjoyed my experience. Got to walk on to several rides or get on others with minimal waits. I would do it again.

Parties/AH/EEH at MK 1000% worth it given the amount of rides you can access. To us, DHS not worth it due to way less ride access than MK.

My three 'big kids' (adult daughter and her husband, adult son) did the After Hours event this past Wednesday and said it was absolutely worth it...they loved the much lower crowd which enabled them to ride all the heavy hitters in that park multiple times.

I would not. We had a pretty crappy experience at DHS after hours about a yr and a half ago and Disney did not care at all and we won't be back. I think at the end of the day there's just not enough open/to do at DHS for the number of tix they sell. I think at MK it may be worth it since there are so many more rides, but half of DHS is basically closed during DHS after hrs since much of the park is shows etc. and they are not open.

I'd definitely just enjoy a rest day and save your money.

I think if all the rides are open, it could be worth it. The risk is that RotR, MRR, and Tower go down. Then you don't have much to do but stand in the line with everyone else for the 2-3 other rides in the park. Gone are the days that Disney would refund your money for failing to provide the promised experience.

Just another thing to consider. If you are soda drinkers or just want bottles of water,
it’s not a bad way to possibly stock up on those items for the remainder of your trip.

Just read through the thread posted above, seems like in April it was not so great. My thought was to do HS AH only, MNSSHP only, and an Epcot EH day in order to possibly make the heat more bearable having more evening hours. But in order to do this our flight is $300 more and tickets would be $400 more than just the 3 day pass and foregoing AH events. Im torn and dont know what to do.

We did every single ride we wanted to during DHS AH (we went 7:30/8pm). That did not include SDD, Star tours, or RnR (currently closed, or was on our trip). We returned the next day for a slow relaxing day of just shows and shopping (we window shopped a bit the day before waiting out crowds). We also caught characters at the AH.

We essentially did Jollywood Nights (first night - will NEVER do first night of a new event ever again! LOL) and in terms of rides, it was great. It was also nice being there at night, especially in Toy Story Land and seeing it all lit up. To me, HS is a very hot and frustrating park because there is no big loop like all the other parks. So to me, it feels like I'm always retracing my steps and crisscrossing the park. It's much nicer doing that at night when the sun isn't beating down on you.

We've been wondering about DHS AH too for an upcoming trip in August. We were admittedly skeptical about AH anywhere at first, wondering if they really did cap ticket sales for them in a significant way, or whether it was worth paying not so much less for these than a full-blown party. But multiple AH sessions at MK (including a couple that sold out) have convinced us that those are definitely worth it, and now we're thinking about branching out. I can understand what people say about it not being quite as valuable at DHS as MK because there are less rides to absorb the crowds, and the risk of the big DHS rides being down, but we'd love to get whatever help we can with the great rides there, not to mention being able to do this park well into the night rather than during the day (which could be key in August). We'd be going to the last DHS AH of the year, so I'm also wondering if that one is more likely to sell out. I know that first and last nights of the parties are always popular, and that first nights of AH can be too, but not sure about the last AH of the year.
