Is HRH NOT for me if I want peace and quiet?

Originally I decided on PBH because it *appears* to be quiet. And then I read that HRH would be *closer* to US...as in walking distance. We will have a 3 year old toddler at time of travel and the distance would be perfect to take him back to our room in case he got tired and needed a nap.

But now I have read about loud music and that in itself would *somewhat* defeat my purpose.

So, am I better off at PB where I would not have to worry about loud rock music?

Thank you.

We didn't hear any noise from our room, but when we were at the pool, we did hear the music playing and it's not quiet at the pool, not to say it was pretty loud either. You'll be fine at HRH.

I wouldn't worry about loud music. The only noise I heard is doors slamming and people talking in the halls.

If a peaceful setting and close to parks is for you - I would say that the Royal Pacific would be the one for you. Also you will save some money.

I would def. stay at the Portofino if you want peace and quiet. The times my DH and I have stayed there - you hardly see anyone or hear anyone. We love the Hard Rock but if you are looking for peace and quiet then the Portofino is the one for you. Good luck.

Since your original decision was for Portofino, I would not change to Hard Rock. Either stick with Portofino or as suggested give Royal Pacific a try for the tranquil feeling.

As far as picking Hard Rock due to the proximity to the parks, thats not a good reason to stay there. Just my opinion. Transportation to/from any of the on-sites is easy. A boat ride or shuttle and in some cases a short walk.Getting your child back to the room for a nap wont take forever even if staying at Portofino.

HRH is closest (walking) to Universal but Royal Pacific is a quick walk from IOA. All in all nothing takes a long time to get to/from once inside Universal. Good Luck making a decision! :)

The first two times we stayed at HRH we had very noisey rooms. All I could hear was the bass from the music at the pool. It was very annoying.
The last time we requested a garden view, it was quiet and peaceful. It's my least favorite. The pool is always so crowded and noisey. I like PBH the best then RPR, but RPR 1st if we're doing club.
If you have little ones I would strongly suggest PBH. They ahve a little kiddie pool and there is a lot more space at the pool

That would bother me. I really didn't want to hear any music but I was attracted to the short distance from HRH and US. We aren't going to IOA. Only US and Citywalk.

On the map from Universal's website, it looks like RP is the longer distance to our destinations which is okay since I have read it wasn't kid friendly and did not offer Kid's Suites.

Thank your for your replies.

RPR is very kid friendly. Not trying to sway you, just correcting a wrong impression.

Give HRH a call and see if they can suggest a room that would not be loud. You will still encounter the music elsewhere though. Thats the theme! :rockband:

Hi,

As our DDs are VERY light sleepers we always ask for a quite location.

This means we usually get: -

  • High floor
  • End of corridor
  • Away from elevators and Ice machines
  • Not pool facing

Which suits us perfectly and as most people want the opposite we've never had any problems.

I agree about RPR, it's very kid friendly. The pool is very fun for the kids.
I didn't include info on RPR because your original post was referring to PBH or HRH.
HRH is very close to US, while RPR is very close to IOA. All in all none of the 3 resorts are very far from anywhere onsite.

We stayed at the Hard Rock when mine were 4 and 2. We were not there at a busy time, I guess and the girl checking us in asked what would be the best room for us with the kids. I said something close to the elevator so that we did not have to carry the kids far if they fell asleep on the way back. She gave us a room right off the lobby it was a Garden View. We only had to go down one flight of the stairs to get to the pool. The only noise we heard was from doors slamming and people talking in the hallways. It was not a lot of noise, though. We have stayed at all 3 and this was our favorite, because it was so close to walk to Universal Studios and City Walk. We could just wheel the stroller on over there. The Portofino was hard to maneuver a stroller around. We were only there one night, though and probably did not learn the best routes around the hotel, but thought it was very confusing.

Any of the hotels should be fine, they will allow you to push a stroller onto the boats if you are using one, you do not have to take the kid out of it. But, we did find the Hard Rock to be the most convenient.

The doors and walls at HRH seem to be a bit thin. I had a hard time sleeping at night due to hearing the people next door to us and talking in the hallways.
