Is Hollywood & Vine breakfast ok?

I am getting nervous. We booked breakfast at Hollywood & Vine out of need (long story - DH has a convention, we stay offsite - no car = need to get on Disney property in order to get into parks). I was just checking other availability, and the only character breakfast available that day is Hollywood & Vine - and nearly every time is available. Is this place huge? Or hugely unpopular? LOL I am hoping it isn't terrible. My youngest will like the Disney Jr. guys, but my older ones could care less. I just don't want to be terribly disappointed.

Will we be okay at H&V, or should we look into a resort restaurant instead? We'll be at DHS that day (no hopping, so we'd need to eat in DHS or at a resort).

The kids wanted to try Whispering Canyon, but I question how quickly we'll be able to get to DHS from WL.

This place gets a bad rap. We go everytime. It is breakfast food, there is not much that you can do to mess it up. I have no complaints and will be eating there for the 5th or 6th time in October! Take an early reservation and when the park opens, if you arent finished, send someone over to get FP for TSM.

Enjoy!

I 2nd sending someone for TSM FPs. We had dinner at H&V and thought it was better than Chef Mickey's.

Thank you! I am not looking for something fantastic, just decent. We have an 8:05 ADR, so we'll be there nice and early. I think it will be better than trying to navigate the busses after breakfast.

Thanks for the tip about running to get FP. I think I'll make sure I do that, and leave the kids with my MIL. It will be faster than dragging them all with me!

Ha. We're going to Chef Mickey's too, and I am not sure how I feel about that. I have read so many not-great reviews, and we were going to try Cape May Cafe. But, when MIL opted in (really, we are very happy she's coming, but just wish she would have said she's coming months ago when we first asked her. She waited until May to make a decision!), we couldn't get her added to Cape May. Thankfully, I had a Chef Mickey booked that I did not cancel that had the right number, so we are using that. I am sure it will be fine, but it wasn't my top pick. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by them all!

The food at H & V is fairly standard breakfast buffet food. I thought it was perfectly fine. My kids loved the character aspect of the meal, although the volume level is such that it would definitely be a bad choice for those without kids. ;)

I was EXTREMELY nervous about this breakfast. It was a first for me last time. My DD is crazy about Disney Jr so she loved it. And the food was pretty much the same to me as all the other places. I would defiantly do it again.

the food was ok. nothing i remember being special. they DO have a breakfast burrito bar.. which i didnt like, but you might. the place is huge but at 8:05am, which is when we were there, you'll have it to yourself. Going to a resort would be better for the food but it will take up a lot of time. We were in and out of this place for breakfast. They have the basics, like all the others, but no signature items like the lobster eggs benedit, or puffed french toast as the others. Also, as adults, i dont get as excited to see Dora as I do for Winnie the Pooh :)

My dd (7) and I went last November for an 8:05 am breakfast and she LOVED it. The food was standard breakfast food, nothing terrible but nothing great. They did have a good selection. My dd LOVES Oso, Handy Manny, and the Little Einsteins. She used to watch them every morning before school. She really enjoyed the characters and they spent a lot of time with us. Manny even made me get up and give him a hug. :lovestruc

We are going again for an 8 am on June 28th. Its great to be there before the park opens and we were finished right at 9. So we got our TSMM fast passes and rode standby.

We went last year with DD14 and DD17 - and loved it. This year we are returning so DD18 can see Special Agent Oso - one of her favorites.

And every 20 minutes or so they come out and sing the hot-dog-hot-dog-hot-diggity-dog song and the characters and little ones join in the dancing. Personally, I LOVE that song (seriously). The amount of attention you get from the characters here is greater than you'll get at any other character meal, at least partly because it is so sparsely populated with guests.

The food is average for a Disney buffet - not the best breakfast you'll ever eat, but certainly not the worst either. How badly can you mess up scrambled eggs, Mickey waffles, bagels, fresh fruit, etc.?

If you like the characters they have there, you'd be a fool not to go. But if you never watch Playhouse Disney (or I think they now call it Disney Jr.) then it might not be a top choice.

You said you hope you don't regret your choices. I think if you just sort of go with the flow, don't expect perfection, and take things as they come, you'll be fine. Chef Mickey's was not inedible and the characters were great.
