Is this restaurant awful?
What's your favorite table service restaurant in HS?

We really liked Brown Derby -- haven't tried Hollywood and Vine.

I have never tried H&V, but the meal that I had at TBD was my favorite meal EVER at WDW. I hate 50's Prime Time. I hear really good things about Mama Melrose. My coworker and her family raved about it and AK's Yak & Yeti.

I thought you were talking about the real Hollywood and Vine and I was going to say it's not so bad since they cleaned up the area and chased most of the hookers away :rotfl:

Yes, it was HORRIBLE. I think I wasted everything I put on my plate.

IT's been a long time since I ate there, and it was breakfast. I just ate at HBD on Monday night, it was fab as always for entrees and appetizers, but the desserts were just so so. I really wish the dining plan was appitizers and entress and no desserts. Did Mama Melrose last year and I had no complaints. I also like the one with the cars, but I won't do 50s because I really don't see anything funny about making people eat all their food or stand in the corner, etc. I know lots of people like it, but I don't want it to happen to me and I don't care to see it.

Me too; I read the subject line & was going to post my $0.02 about how the place has really been cleaned up, just don't venture out on foot after dark unless you're a black belt in judo :rotfl:

Great photo SpaceMermaid!!!

I liked the food at H&V...we were there during star wars weekend (how bizarre...I think that is from a song, right?). I don't really have a fav in HS - I do like the salad at the Pizza place by Muppets but that isn't a restaurant really.

My coworker and her family raved about it and AK's Yak & Yeti.

Oh my - hunny and I tried it - she calls it Gak and Yuckie. Our food was horrible, service worse, the "hot" dessert was ice cold. Hunny has a food allergy - well, you would think that we had asked for the world. We were VERY disappointed. Then on top of it all - we find out Disney doesn't even own the place!

H&V has great food options (healthy choices, which aren't easy to find elsewhere), in our opinion, of all the Studios' non counter service venues - except for Brown Derby.

We like Mama Melrose & Sci-Fi too, preferring MM for the good food and Sci-Fi for the ambience. Prime Time's menu choices were limited and the characters the servers pulled off weren't amusing - I've suffered bad dinner theatre performances which were better than theirs.

Brown Derby.

But we also like Sci-Fi - It's fun for what it is. :thumbsup2

We went to HW&V 2 years ago as part of the Fantasmic package and it was good...buffet style, not the best, but not that terrible.

This year we are doing the character lunch.....then going back for dinner towards the end of our trip (for Fantasmic package, as MM was BOOKED).

So were are you eating on your trip with mom?

 I do not think it is good, or even edible! However, they are right next to the bar and you can get Yuengling to wash down your entire meal!!!

I don't think that the food is great anywhere in that park. We love 50's Primetime, but not for the food. We love the silly interaction that takes place there. We always have a great time. There have been times when we have found our "cousins" at other parks and have rode a ride with them or sent dessert over to them!

I was very much not impressed with H&V when I went. The pot roast was good, but I didn't like much of anything else.

Thank you for asking! I sent Mom a link to menus and she picked out a few that looked interesting to her. We're on the DDP and I currently hold 1 extra ressie than I have credits for. Hence, I'm pretty sure H&V is OUT!

I arrive on the 17th and plan for a CS meal at the PepperMarket
18th-CapnJacks
19th- Yak & Yeti for lunch, Chef's de France dinner
20th-Kona Cafe-dinner
21st-H&V
22nd-Cape May dinner
23rd-Le Cellier-dinner
24th-Tuttio Italia-lunch, Coral Reef-dinner
25th-Liberty Tree Tavern-dinner!

I'm trying not to micro manage the trip, but I am anxious for my Mom to have a good time. It's been 4 years since she's been to WDW, and she's not yet been to the AK park.

Not good... trust me on this one. I would suggest Brown Derby, good food, good service, I am not a fan of the Prime Time as I do not care for the routine, but people like it.

I also like Spoodles on the Boardwalk for dinner.. they also do breakfast which I have not done lately. Also, we have had some decent meals at the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club.. they do a buffet breakfast that is quiet and not terribly overwhelming and after being in the park, sometimes it is nice to sit in a quiet restaurant and have a decent burger or whatever..

One more thought here Rosie.....Teppan Edo is a great lunch for the money.. cooked in front of you and just yummy.. I hate to say this, but it is much better than Yak & Yeti.. Don't hate me....

I'll take your word for it...it's just that Yak & Yeti was one of the places Mom picked out. Is Spoodles on the DDP? I've heard nice things about too.

We went to Yak and Yeti for CS and it wasn't too bad. I would def. pick that over H and V any day of the week.
