We are coming down with a large group in 2 and 1/2 weeks and decided to do the Fantasmic package with H and V. I keep hearing such awful things about H and V that I am thinking of canceling. Is it really that bad? We really wanted the Fantasmic package. Is that not needed? I need some feedback for what we should do. Anything positive to either?:confused3

We ate it with our Fantasmic package and found it to be fine! It's a buffet, so just be ready for that and what it entails, and you'll be fine!

I went at the last minute with a large group almost 2 years ago and I was surprised that I found many things I liked. Many chicken dishes that were very good along with many dise dishes. There was also pasta and fish dishes. Many desserts to choose from too. I would do it again if I was going with a large group.

My family just ate ate H&V 2 weeks ago. We will not be returning.

The food was barely edible and cold. The service was horrendous and rude.

When we were there (Aug 14-29) there were 2 Fantismic shows nightly so you didn't need the package to get in. Not sure what the schedule is when you're there but I would recommend staying away from H&V. Perhaps Mama Melrose is an option?

We were there in December and the food was awful. We were seated right next to a pillar which made it impossible to sit comfortably. We ended up at the food court buying as meals for everyone because everyone was still hungry :sad1:

My family has eaten at Hollywood and Vine more than any other restaurant at WDW. I am not bragging, it has just worked out that way. We bring large groups to the buffet mainly. It is a little noisy, the tables don't get cleaned off fast enough at times. My wife really doesn't like it.

BUT, my teen children really like it. I like the theming of it. I can always find plenty of good to eat, the desserts are similar to other restaurants and very good. It is fairly easy to get an ADR and servers can be very good.

I liked the F! package. Next year I will be there for 7 days with DW and 6 days without her. The kids and I will probably go back to H&V without her. I can name 35 better dining experiences, but I still keep going. I think it is better than national chains like Ryans or Texas Roadhouse or Shoneys or places like that.

We have eaten at H&V and Mama Melrose's for the Fantasmic package. We had very good experiences at both places. The food was good and the locations are great for HS. The kids probably prefered H&V, because of the choices. It is not fine dining... but it is worth the convenience of the Fantasmic package.

We have always had really good food there any meal but we like the breakfast there as the meats always seem so freshly done.:thumbsup2 we had went to Mama Melrose for our package several years ago and food there to us was terrible so we have not been back.

We ate there in August and I have to say I will not go back. The food selections were not that great. The food was just okay. Alot of dirty tables. My older daughter would not even eat because she said the place smelled. There was a smell. Will not go back. They need to do alot better for the money they charge.

We eat breakfast at H&V every year....we love it. Never had the dinner at H&V though.

Is the price $35.99 OOP now? I don't think I could pay that for H&V. It definitely isn't worth that. I could get the prawns or steak across the street at Brown Derby for the same cost.

On Free Dining - I would probably visit H&V again just because it is easy in, easy out.

We had the Fantasmic! package with H&V dinner last Fall. Neither my DD nor myself had been there before, and I was hesitant. My DD is a foodie. We both agreed that the offerings were creative, well presented, and tasty. We had a nice meal. Perhaps people who were looking for a more traditional buffet of plain old USA food favorites would be disappointed. But that is exactly why we liked H&V.

One complaint, not really anyone's fault, but there were lots of kids there and lots of spills on the floor. The staff tried to keep up, but with people constantly getting up to get food, it was hard to keep the floor nice.

We went with the free dining so I'm not sure of the price. I will say if I didn't have free dining ALOT of these expensive buffets I would not be eating at. The worst part would be if I had to pay over a 100.00 for bad food.

Thank you everyone! I believe everyone has a different experience, some good, some bad and that we should try it for ourselves. I just have not read very many positive things about H and V and was tempted to change. We do have free dining so that helps. I guess we'll give it a try and see!

We did the fantasmic dinner package at H and V and I have to say it was the worst meal I have ever had at WDW. For the money, there are much better places to eat.

We have eaten almost everywhere at WDW over many years. H&V is the worst meal we have had and by far the worst character experience. Overcrowded, dirty, bad service, bad food. We will never go back there.

I would rather eat where I want to eat (any resort hotel over anything at DHS) and just wait in line for Fantasmic rather than ever subject my family to H&V again...gross!
