Is HH "wild" during college spring break?

We live near South Padre Island, which turns very "wild" during college spring break in March. So when I mentioned to DH that we might go to HH next year during that same week (I'm a teacher with the same vacation), he said "Are you nuts?" But I asked our guide, whose home resort is HH, and he said that HH just isn't that type of place. Are the golf courses packed? That's another concern of DH. Please be patient-I know I ask alot of questions. And before anyone flames me for complaining about crazy spring breakers, I have 2 college-aged sons, who'd probably be participating if I let them!

I have been there during spring break time and I don't recall it being wild. That is still considered low season there. HH just does not attract a big party crowd. It is farther north that where you are so it really is not hot enough for lots of swimming, sunbathing etc.. I can't say anything on the golf courses since I don't golf!

Hilton Head is mostly people of retirement age and families. The spring breakers go to Myrtle Beach. There are some younger people there. I've been to a few night spots that were packed with late teens, early twenties. I believe they are kids who were there working summer jobs or natives of the island.

Hilton Head is laid back, relaxing, and quiet for the most part. That's the kind of vacation we like but I know people who think it's dull. I don't need a boardwalk, a lot of bars, or a strip of cheap souvie shops to have a fun time, but some people do.

I would say that MCI classic week is more rowdy than spring break week. People go watch golf all day and hit the bars afterward. Happy hour is really big there!

I have two college age sons and they go to Myrtle every year. They both love HH too, but not on spring break.....

While HH is certainly a desirable vacation location for Spring Break, it does not attract the type of "activities" renowned at South Padre, Daytona or Myrtle Beach.

There are lots of college kids there, but many are tennis teams ( playing in the collegiate program encouraged on the island) and golf teams. There are lots of golf courses, so getting tee times shouldn't be a big problem.

HH is great in March and the weather will range from the 60's to around 80. The ocean will be rather cool for swimming, but there will be a full range of activities available for all ages.

Enjoy!

LOL-Lucky4Me. I'll proudly stand on the side of the "dull" vacationers. HH sounds great to me!

one year we stayed below someone who was breaking the rules. It was during High School Spring break and there were 24 girls staying in a 2bd, with 2 adults. Some boys tried to climb up the balcony to get to their room and were standing on our balcony late one night. That many girls in one unit was pretty bad. the solution was to make us pack up and move, not throw the people out. oh well, we still had fun.
