Fitness-
As some of you may have gathered, I made the decision to end my personal pity party (sparked by issues tied to cancer and complications) back in November. Mid-December is when I began to work in the fitness element of this process. I have so many things to be grateful for in this, but off the top of my head...
Forested Greenbelts - While I've always loved getting out for a nice long walk, there is something even more therapeutic about it when I'm out in nature (not to mention how the trees help shield me from the sun). I'm at a point where I literally wake up ahead of my alarm because I'm craving my morning walk.
Affordable and Convenient Gym - It's been a while since I've embraced my inner gym rat. I used to love going but it's not easy when the closest options (before) are more than I was willing to spend. I haven't worked up to all of the stuff I used to do, but I'm going at least 5 days a week now because it's such an easy drive to this new location. While I still have a ways to go, I caught a glimpse of my reflection the other day and I can see that work I've been putting in on leg days starting to pay off.
Music - I honestly don't know how people workout without it. Good music for me can totally fuel my workout/cardio and keep me going twice as long, if not longer.
Sounds-
Birds - I walked out to get something from the garage the other day and heard a ton of birds. I decided to grab my phone and see what Merlin had to say. In this short little span I was hearing a pine warbler, a northern mockingbird, a white winged dove, an American robin, a Carolina wren, a tufted titmouse, a great tailed grackle, a northern cardinal, a Carolina chickadee, and a chimney swift. What's funny is that I can think of at least 8 other kinds of birds I see around that weren't singing at the time. Still...that's a significant number of birds singing all at once.
Music - Nothing specific...just whatever fits my mood at the time. I literally live in music every day... even when I'm not doing fitness related things.
Dog Noises - We have a very chatty dog. Yes, she barks and howls like normal dogs but she has all kinds of crazy vocalizations as if she's talking to us.
5 Things-
Standing Desk - I just raised it so I can stand and shift/dance/pace around for a while.
Stanley - Filled with my morning caffeinated lemonade and collagen powder.
Recumbent bike - Technically, it's right behind me but it serves as my main cardio on weekdays when I don't go to the gym and my wind down on days when I have longer walks to help loosen up my legs.
WFH station - I have my whole remote station in front of me so I don't have to suffer through a dreadful commute into the big office every day.
AirPods - I have three different sets of headphones in rotation, but these are the easiest ones.
