Is Half Board Worth it?

We did the Disney Dining Plan at WDW and absolutely loved it. We ate like kings and tried some really fantastic restaurants we would have otherwise avoided because of the cost. I feel we saved a bunch of money.

I read the Half Board FAQ and am not sure it is really much of a deal. Has anyone here tried it? Did you feel you had good choices? Do you think you saved any money?

Thanks

I really liked HB plus one our last trip and have booked it again for our next one.

We got a great rate on the euro and on the buffet restaurants you do save quite a bit.

Its not the same as dining plan, but with the exchange the rate the way it is and the moment it is a really good deal!

im from ireland so as i dont have the conversion rate to worry about it actually isnt a big saving for me for what i would normally spend in a restaraunt so i didnt bother with it. as there are certain restaraunts or you can use them at face value which would have been the same as using money so no point in them for me im afraid

Half board plus saved me around 25% on our evening table-service restaurant meals on our recent trip.

With the exchange rate from sterling to euro so bad at the moment, it was definitely worth it for me.

Why does it make HB so good, sorry am i being a bit dim here  You'll still be payng for it in £'s ??

Yes, but for example -

Adult half board plus voucher for one night is currently £17.
You can use it in various restaurants in DLRP (including Cape Cod full buffet) as full payment. Cape Cod buffet price if you pay on the day is 27 euros (ie around £22.50). So you've saved £5.50 just on that one meal.

Half board plus can also be used as full payment for the Lucky Nugget character lunch, and the pay on the day price of that is 30 euros per adult (ie around £25). So you'd save even more using a half board voucher for that meal.

I see now, thanks for clearing that up. I never realised that.

Maybe i'll go and look into the Hb thread to do some more research.

Thanks for your response :thumbsup2
