Is Grand Californian Resort worth it?

I also am a huge GC fan. We have stayed there on 5 occasions, the last one being a week in May. There are concierge rooms and a few suites but haven't been in either. I know it is more expensive but what other Disney resort in the U. S. lets you be right in the middle of one of their theme parks. We love the park view and pay extra for it. Can't wait to go back for the 50th celebration next year.

I don't know if they have rooms to accomodate 5 adults. But, we were in a room with a queen size beds for us and bunk beds for the girls. However, the bottom bunk also had a trundle bed under it the pulled out for a 5th bed. But, I would hesitate to try to fit adults in any of the bunk beds. However a family with 2 adults and 3 kids would work fine.

I believe the GC has some rooms with a daybed and 2 queens. We tried to get one of these rooms for our upcoming visit in November and were told there weren't any available during our stay.

That would be fine! We are 2 adults and 3 kids(youngest is 3)! I tried pricing on the DL website and are getting prices for around $300/night just for a standard-city view! That seems awefully high to me!? Any suggestions? Also, we are considering traveling last week in June, any week in July or any week in Aug. Are all 3 considered the same season rate?...and what are the temps. for each?

AspiringCindy,

You probably would do better calling the hotel reservations directly. Since you are not traveling for awhile, the AP rates aren't out yet. The best you can do this far in advance is AAA or AP discount of about 10-15%. Make your reservation, and keep checking rates as the time gets closer and then apply the better rate to your reservation. Also, keep an eye on Mousesavers.com for deals like expedia stay 3 nights get 1 night free, etc.

Anyone see the special on the Travel Channel about the Grand Californian?

I was kind of disappointed they had the host booked into a suite, which I'm sure is $$$$$ and the Master Penthouse suite. It would have been nice to show a standard room that most people would probably end up getting!

I think the special was somewhat helpful...

I am getting married there 2-21-05

Since the 1st day I stepped foot in there I have been in love with this hotel.

Hi!! I have to agree, we just returned from the Grand Californian last Friday and it was a wonderful hotel. We were there for four nights and had the pool and theme park view. I loved looking out our balcony every morning and evening. I really thought it was the prettiest hotel I have ever stayed in. My son and husband loved it too, although my husband's favorite Disney hotel is still the Yacht and Beach Club in DW. He loves SAB (pool).

poopie: I think that is fantastic that you are getting married there, what a beautiful location.
