Is Garden Grill as nice as it sounds?

I just stumbled upon it tonight and we got early dinner ressies for our July trip.
I don't know HOW I missed it.....;)

I really liked it when we went last summer. Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale are the characters, and the restaurant rotates. You get to see parts of the living with the land ride! The food is all you care to eat, and they bring it to you. I'm a big mac and cheese person, and even though it was just DH and me, they still brought it to me! The adult menu had fried catfish, flank steak with potatoes, as well as turkey and stuffing. We'll definitely do it again in the future!

when are you going in july? we're also going in july and are eating at garden grill for the first time! we're going the last week of the month... how about you??

My girlfriend and I enjoy GG. The food is nothing special in my opinion. However, the character interaction is some of the best in all of WDW. It is worth going to simply for those crazy characters.

My DD and I ate there in 2008 and the food was just ok. The character interaction is wonderful though. So if you have small children I recommend the Garden Grill just for the characters and not the food! Have a great time!

As others have said, the food is okay and I wouldn't go just for that. However, the way the restaurant is set up is great. On the lower level, you are seated at semi-circle booths that make it totally private. So when the characters come around you have them completely to yourself! I think the other level has tables, so I would definitely request a booth at check in!

No. The food wasn't that great, the characters come by too fast (and visited us 3 times, which got a little old), the seating was cramped (especially if you are stuck on the upper level) and the Living with the Land soundtrack was too loud.

It was my single worst dining experience in Walt Disney World.

Here's what my wife wrote about the experience during our trip in July 2009.

I've chosen the Garden Grill for my Birthday Dinner so I'm hoping it's good :thumbsup2

One of my co-workers took both of his newly adopted granddaughters there last year and it was their favorite from the entire week.

The girls still talk about it from time to time.

Everybody complains about the food..BUT we LOVE it! The character interaction is some of the best too

DDs & I loved it but DH, not so much. Great character interaction!

My boyfriend and I went there last Nov (we have our ressie for this Nov too!). It's a great place to eat.

The food was very, very good and the character interaction was excellent. Also, it's nice to have the food brought to you and it was quieter than most character meals out there.

Enjoy!!!

We were on the top level (request bottom if you can). We couldn't see much of the land view - just some tops of trees as you went by. We didn't like how the food was all in one platter - fish, beef, potatoes, etc - all in one plate. There was 8 of us and we had 1 platter on each end of the table. The food was OK, but we won't be eating there again.

Character interaction was really good - so if you're going for characters it's probably a good choice. If you going for the food - nope.

We are only doing the QSDP this time around. We don't want alot of adr's. But this is one of the 2 meals we are paying for out of pocket. We love it last year. The character are just a bonus to us.

I notice some said fried catsfish. We had salmon and rice when we went last October.

It used to be catfish..Now it ( since last yr) it is sustainable fish of the day..We had Mahi Mahi in December and others had Tilapia in December..It varies

This is our favorite character meal! The food is pretty good, you usually see the characters a few times since the place is so small, and if you get a lower booth it's very quiet and relaxing.

I also have an ADR for Garden Grill in July. It was my daughter's only MUST DO for this trip. She absolutely loves it there and we usually hit many characters meals. The food is only okay to me but the atmosphere is so relaxing and fun. I love family style meals vs full on buffet so you are served the food and can relax.

The character interaction here is the best we have encountered anywhere! You will get some great photos.
