Is FOTL worth it in Oct?

Hi there,

We're not sure if we'll get to Universal this time around but I would love to. Last July, we stayed one night at RPR and did both parks with the FOTL access. Fantastic, especially because of the summer crowds. However, we paid a hefty price for RPR - I think it was $289 or something terrible like that!

I can't find a lower price than $229 right now for the onsite hotels (we aren't AAA members) - so I'm just wondering if it's even worth it to do onsite this time. By the way, we're going to Orlando the weekend of Oct 7-11 - Canadian Thanksgiving, and I guess Columbus day as well.

Daytime in October always seems like a toss-up when it comes to crowds...it's usually busier on days that have Halloween Horror Nights (which I think are a coupla nights while your there). Since you went last year with FOTL you probably know which rides you want to ride again and which ones you want to skip. If you want to ride everything (or try to), I'd suggest either staying on property or buying the Express Passes. (You could buy the Express pass for Universal One Day and ride everything and then repeat any rides you really liked with out the express tickets for the rest of the day, and then repeat with Islands on another day).

However, if you will be spending 3 days or so in the parks you should be able to do everything (some things multiple times) in the parks without Express tickets.

How many people are in your party? If you were thinking of buying the Express Passes for 4 people, it might be cheaper to stay on property... just price it out...and see what works the best for you.

Originally we were going to stay on sight for a week in October, but it just worked out SO much cheaper for the 3 of us to stay off property and rent a car (I also decided that since we'd be spending at least 4 days in the parks, we'd have plenty of time to do everything without shelling out the extra $$ for the Express).

I think at most we'd have two days in the parks, and that's probably overestimating it. There's just two of us. I guess it's hard to justify those kind of rates, even a $159 would be more palatable! Thanks for the info on express passes, I had forgotten about those.
