Is Floridays Resort Worth It?

Thanks for all the information. I have contacted Vacation Upgrades and Vacation Strategies and are waiting to hear back from them.

I believe Westgate Lakes Resort (not WG Town Center which has bad reviews) is very comparable to Floridays. You may want to check the rates for the dates you are interested in. Again, I always try to call instead of looking online. We are a military family and get the military rate more often by calling. There are various discounts.

OH, also some resorts include the "resort fee" in the overall price, but the majority of Orlando hotels DO NOT include the resort fee or parking fee in the advertised price. This is another reason I always call to ask what are the resort fees and the parking fees. I do not know if Expedia includes resort fees and parking fees in their advertised price.

One other location I think would be fun for you and your wife is a hotel near Downtown Disney such as the Wyndham Lake Buena Vista. It is one crosswalk away from Downtown Disney (DTD). I have stayed here several times as well as my brother. The tower rooms are quieter as the cheapest rooms they offer are motel style near or facing the parking lot. Noise may not bother you. They have a nice pool. The reason I mention this hotel (or any downtown disney hotel like Double Tree) is because you and your wife can eat dinner in DTD like the House of Blues and have a few drinks and WALK back to the hotel. I am not sure what the shuttle services are like from the DTD hotels. I am sure someone else can answer that question. I know there are Disney shuttles between the parks and DTD.

There is nothing wrong with Floridays, just trying to give you a few more options. :-)

Edited to add, I just read the FAQ for WGL and it's is non-smoking. Sorry.

Thank you to everyone that help with our decisions and we were offered a 1 bedroom deluxe today at Bonnet Creek for a pretty decent price for the dates that we wanted.

Sometimes booking each component on its own is a way to save money. I just wanted to add there are other ways to save money. Depending on what restaurants you go to you can save between $ 10.00 to 25.00 on your bill if you join their "clubs" cehck the websites if you are planning in advance. For example, T REX Cafe in DOWN TOWN DISNEY is a must see even without kids. You can get money off there and if it is your birth month they will give you 25.00 toward you meal when you join the Landry's club plus you do not have to wait to be seated(the wait can be up substantial). Maggiano's gives you a free dessert or 10.00 off your bill for your anniversary. Just saying there are lots routes to savings so that you can still get what you want and even out the bill. If you saved 10.00 per day on meals for example you would be saving at least 120 for the week which would lower the 500 extra. Check into other condo like resorts as another poster said WBC IS GREAT as are all the Marriotts and most likely you could get them for less.

Another route is through credit card perks. IF you are a person who uses a credit card and pays it off each month I suggest you get a Disney Card (Visa). We got 200.00 to sign up(after we spent 2000 on the card over a couple of months) You still have time to do that (look into it). WE ended up with 243.00 to spend at the parks! It took care of several meals and snacks!

You have time to explore these alternate routes to savings but I also suggest you go to the Budget Board and ask for ways people save for trips to WDW. There are tons of little tricks which would equal to most likely MORE than the extra 500.00. Might I also suggest and most likely you know this that you get a credit card that gives a return on everthing you spend like a Discover. If you are able to pay EVERYTHING with your card and CAN PAY OFF THE BALANCE EACH MONTH, and do not take the points or money(as in the case of Discover) it would easily give you extra speding money of a couple of hundred dollars when vacation rolls around. I was up to 3000 cash back on my Discover 1500 of which went toward my new car. I also suggest you sign up at www.fatwallet.com this site has so many ways to save it is crazy.

Edited to Add: Another poster suggested WESTGATE LaKES. NEVER< EVER stay in a resort with the name WESTGATE they are famous for torturing you into taking a timeshare tour.

You can get better car rental prices through Priceline. Do not do the bid thing where you have to pre-pay just price out the car through the site. You can book it without having to pre-pay for it.

Trying to avoid booking your own car and flight may end up costing you a bit more money.

I also think trying to get 12 nights, flights and a car for 12 nights at $1500 or under might take a miracle.
