Is Fantasmic worth $42...

Just want to add my 2cents - I agree that Fantasmic is overrated. It was neat, but none of my family is in a hurry to do that again - we also prefer Wishes and Illuminations. (And Beauty & the Beast, and the new action/stunt show, and the Ariel show...) It was really the most difficult part of our 10-day stay - the crowd was awful, it was a looong haul to the theater, and my youngest got scared (she is 4) We will probably do it again one day, but not on our upcoming trip.

Animal Kingdom - we used to do it in 1/2 a day, but now our kids are old enough to ride the rides, are interested in seeing all the animals, and like the characters and parade too. There is so much to see, and so much detail that many miss there. "It's Tough to be a Bug" is our favorite 3-D show - don't miss it!

Thank you for the replies. I think I will plan on not hopping and just "relaxing" after AK closes.

Nope, I don't think it's worth it. I would take the money and go to Downtown Disney and buy some neat stuff and go out for a nice meal at one of the resorts. My DH just mentioned, what if it got rained out!!! Doesn't happen much, but could. Well, it's our least liked of all the shows and I certainly wouldn't pay that amount of money just to see it.

I agree with a previous poster... in my opinion, Fantasmic is a bit overrated. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed seeing it, but I wouldn't pay that much extra for it or rearrange my plans to see it. And I would definitely want to spend a full day at AK. We were there from opening ceremony to closing time, and I was FAR from ready to leave! I'm always doing this :scratchin when someone says they were done at AK in a couple of hours. I just don't get it. I love that place!

I feel the same way! - I'm always thinking they must not have seen much of the park...they must not have stopped along the paths to marvel at the animals and how close they are!...they must not have realized there is alcohol in this park!!!!!!!! :drinking: I think AK is 2nd only to MK.

Definately spend a whole day at AK. Like someone said , you could pay for the hopper and then be rained out of Fantasmic (this happened to us) If you are going the following July, you can definately wait to see it, it will still be there and still be the same. You can't possibly do everything in 2 1/2 days...don't sweat it!

I've never seen it, but if you can spend the money and want something do do for the evening, maybe you can check out La Nouba?? Is that still running at DTD?

Yikes - just checked out the prices. That $42 Fantasmic is looking good now. ;) Honestly, I wouldn't pay an extra $42 for Fantasmic. You can go check out some of the entertainment on the Boardwalk and watch the fireworks from IllumiNations from the bridge to Epcot from BW. There are also lots of restaurants there.

To me, Fantasmic is by far the least impressive of the 3 nighttime shows. I was really disappointed when I saw it based on alot of the posters recommendations. A reeeeally long wait .. a crowded arena, . I wouldnt say it was terrible, just a disappointment considering all of the hub-ub.

Now Illuminations and Wishes - FANTASTIC shows not to be missed !!!
::yes:: But if you are going to have regrets that you missed going, then go.
