Is Epcot "outdated?"

Seriously more ppl wanting change? U don't change icons that have been around, Disney is a theme park not a thrill park
Just because you go so often (as do i) and things seem to stay the same is a good thing personally I hate all the updates frozen doesn't need its own ride by replacing an actual country

And taking out art of animation and one mans dream?
First time guests all of this is brand new to them
I agree updates should be made for safety concerns
But I don't want Disney to ever be a park that constantly changes
Now if it wants to add on and grow larger that's a different story

Epcot isn't outdated some people have just gotten bored with it and that's ok not everyone is a die hard fan that's happy just going and reliving memories

Lol sorry for rant but seems like so many ppl always wanting change

I've heated ppl thinking splash mountain should be redesigned to a more modern movie so that kids understand it
Or that Cinderella's castle should be renamed to Elsa's castle
And I'm just sitting there trying to to leap through computer screen to slap them haha

If only they had 2 billion lying around they could have really turned EPCOT around and given it some new looks and attractions. Oh well there's always lots of booze there to make you forget.

Good point. Since the front half of EPCOT was all about change and innovation why actually do these things. Just talk about it and realize it's always new to someone.

Disney isn't between a rock and a hard place. Maelstrom was the best ride in the World Showcase, it didn't need to be replaced. Frozen should have been built in Future World, ideally replacing EO. Then not only would Maelstrom have remained, but you'd have another Tier 1 attraction on the other side of Epcot. Disney just flat out made a horrible decision.

But don't you see part of the issue is that what is an outdated attraction to one is one that should remain the same to another? Did Disney make a mistake in this decision? I have no idea, but I do believe that there will never be a consensus when changes are made to attractions that are beloved to one and boring to others,or determines not to make changes, which pleases some and disgusts others.

I find plenty to keep me occupied throughout WDW so maybe my opinion is a bit skewed, but there has been a lot of debate for a while.

I just got back from my first ever visit and it felt outdated to me...BUT the World Showcase was lovely to my newbie eyes.

Guess this is why they offer so much alcohol, it all looks awesome after a few drinks! I don't mind Epcot, it would be nice to add a few new things tho.

I think the Future world era is outdated (again.....captain EO??) although we do like the Land and Sea areas. World Showcase, however, is one of our favorite areas in all the parks (Disney, please feel free to add more countries). We love all the details there and can spend hours exploring, watching the performers, eating, etc. One of the reasons we do park hoppers is to just drop in and have dinner in WS.

Well while its true that 100% of people will never be satisfied, you can make correct and incorrect judgment calls. Bottomline, most people would greatly prefer Maelstrom to EO. People are literally at Iger's door begging and pleading with the man to axe EO. And for some reason Disney isn't doing anything with that space.

We found FW extremely outdated when we went in April. We hardly spent any time there at all. We enjoyed WS, but honestly if it wasn't for F&G Festival going on, we probably wouldn't have even spent a full day in Epcot for the whole seven days we were there.

Yea I don't understand there thinking on this.

I'll 100% agree that not all change is sen the same. I don't mind the inclusion of Nemo, 3 Caballeros or Frozen at EPCOT but the inclusion of Tron the way they did it drives me nuts. I think the bigger issue for most is the lack of substantial change and changing attractions into empty buildings. EPCOT is full of both and since F&W and F&G boost attendance and Frozen is going to cause a rush (whether people like it or not) so I don't think they have much incentive to change anything else.

I've seen many changes over the years to all the parks, I started going when there was just MK (gasp one park). Some I've thought were great some not so much. I hate the change to the ride at The Living Seas, it used to be a ride actually going through the tank with fishes all around you. I understand why they did it though, Epcot was not known for it's appeal to the younger kids so adding Nemo gave them something. I hate the change to Figment, it seems like a watered down version to the original one and I'm not really sure why they changed that but I still ride it and still enjoy it. DS used to love the play area they had there, I can't say I was sad when that went away since I couldn't pull him away from the darn thing, again not sure why they took that out. I'm ehhh about EO, liked honey I shrunk the audience. I can't help but think they have something in mind for that building and EO is just bidding their time. I'm not thrilled about Frozen being in WS just because even though it was based on Norway I think it takes away from the feel of the country (yes I know they don't really have trolls in Norway that they are fictional too but they are in the folklore). I hated the addition of the Johnnie Depp character to PoTC, the movie was based on the ride not the ride based on the movie. But I still love the ride. Change happens, sometimes it works, sometimes not so much. I love Epcot, it's my favorite park, always has been since it opened but I'll admit it's not because of FW, it's the WS. I love HS, always have and I'm one of the few that am not thrilled about the two new additions coming, didn't see any of the Toy Story movies except the first one and other than the 3 original Star Wars haven't seen any of those. I like the old movie set feel of the place and enjoyed it when it was an actual working studio. I understand that is not what it is any more but hate to see some of that feel going away. I won't stop going, I'll adapt.

Epcot is still my favorite park but there are sections of it that are outdated. Journey needs a refurb and one that keeps Figment. Ellen's Energy Adventure needs to be modernized, a lot has changed in energy since the last update. I love the France movie but it could use a refresh. Wonders of Life needs to be reopen as a health based pavilion.

I want Future World to stay mostly about edutainment with a few rides like Soarin' thrown in. I would love TT to turn back into an educational dark ride along the lines of World of Motion.

I still love the park and think on a whole it still works but some parts need a refresh and I think it will be next since DHS and AK have large projects.

Future World, IMO, is first in line for an update instead of DS, AK, and HS. However, the continued success of World Showcase doesn't allow them to make Future World a priority.

I think that Future World could use a refresh. However Epcot is still my favorite park. I even prefer it to MK

I really wish they would update Epcot... especially after seeing the PBS Walt special, I think he would be really disappointed in how it looks now.

Also the rides in world showcase are supposed to be kind of educational for the country there in, Epcot in a whole is supposed to be somewhat educational but it seems ticket sales and greed are slowly overriding that.
I saw in another post that some people think cop in MK should be replaced. I guess Fl could use a six flags.

I love Epcot -- well, I love WS, and I love The Land pavillion! Future World is kind of retro, back to the future cool. DH and the boys love Future World. Of course, we always go during F&WF and/or the holidays, so Epcot is easily my favorite park. I don't know how I would feel about it if we visited when there were no special events.
