Is Epcot "outdated?"

We usually go to Disney once a year. My children and I love it, but my husband, not so much. It's not that he doesn't like it but he always says "it's the same thing every year". He always complains about Epcot that its outdated. He does love test track tho:thumbsup2. When we were at WDW a few weeks back, we explored the world showcase a bit (saw the films in Canada, China and saw the acrobats). My husband likes that kind of stuff. Is there anything else we missed? Anything else good to see? Thanks for any advice.

It is only the same thing every year if you go there the same time each year.

Try going during Food and Wine festival, or during the Christmas Holidays (T-Giving-New Years) or during the Flower and Garden festival. You will see that it is not the same park.

Now as far as Future World goes...

OK, great advice, maybe I will get him to start drinking while we are there, then his complaining will die down.
This advice should answer the original question. If you need booze to make it work , well maybe..... its outdated!;)

I find it very outdated, but I do still enjoy the park (especially WS), and my kids do not seem to notice the 'outdatedness' so we keep going. I went to Epcot the year it opened, as a child, and it hardly seems different! I'm looking forward to some updates though.

I will admit it may outdated, but as stated above, I enjoy the WS during the holidays. The holidays around the world is a great way to enjoy the WS. I like to walk around the WS and just enjoy the storytellers.

its far and away the best place to drink at. My favorite time ever in Disney was 3 years ago when my wife and I went drinking around the world and she took pics of me in each country wearing a stupid hat from the shops. The downside of it is half my bill at the end is booze from the world showcase

I'm gonna go ahead and invite myself into your marriage. Cost notwithstanding, that sounds like literally the best way to do Epcot.

I think that Epcot could use some updates, yes. We do not spend too much time in Future World any more, but do like to enjoy the WOrld Showcase. Each visit is generally during a different season so it is always a new experience.

I do think that DIsney is between a rock and a hard place when it comes to updates. I have to say that Maelstrom was never the most popular attraction and yet this refurb has caused such a fluster. Now we hear that Soarin' will be closed for refurb and after reading so many complaints about the quality of the film, the subject of the film, the length of time it takes to actually enjoy the film.....there is a fuster that the attraction wil be closed for a period of time.

DHS is experiencing major updates, but in order to do that many familiar attractions will be closed, some never to return, and yes....complaints. I am really glad I am not in charge of the changes that are made to update any attraction or park.

We say this every time we walk into EPCOT. From the front of the park, it relays looks outdated. Also, a lot of FW is clearly from the 80s. WS is the saving grace of EPCOT, but the kids don't always like it there because they get bored. I really hope they start focusing some more time and attention here soon.

I hear what you are saying and don't disagree... But how about adding new, innovative attractions and then after they are up and running start the process of closing and reimagining old attractions?

Disney isn't between a rock and a hard place. Maelstrom was the best ride in the World Showcase, it didn't need to be replaced. Frozen should have been built in Future World, ideally replacing EO. Then not only would Maelstrom have remained, but you'd have another Tier 1 attraction on the other side of Epcot. Disney just flat out made a horrible decision.

Epcot is so outdated that enjoying how outdated it is has become the main pleasure in visiting there. That, and booze.
I once tried to "drink around the worlds", started at Mexico and was done by Germany! They do NOT water down their drinks! :) I guess I'll have to do it in sections next time! :P

I like most of it the way its but it does need SOME updates. Captain EO should be gone for sure and I'm not a fan of the Figment ride either. Glad they're updating Soarin' but I wish they left Maelstrom alone. I think they need to update some of the shows in World Showcase as well.
