Is El Pirata Y el Perico any good?

From the sounds of it, El Pirata sounds like a nice change of pace from Burgers and other food options. Any one on here willing to give this place a thumbs up? I do love tacos. Are they any good here?

They're okay. Hard yellow taco shells with ground beef or with beans. Think Taco Bell but with fresher toppings (they have a small toppings bar--lettuce, tomato, cheese, salsa, that may be it). Their beans are refried black beans instead of the usual pinto beans, which is kind of weird--I liked it, but it was kind of weird.

The kids' quesadilla got better reviews from the group than the tacos.

I think they are good for a quick service meal. DBF said the beef tacos were tasty and I got the veggie black bean tacos which were pretty darn good for a fast food meal. I would eat there again.

Not bad. I like the veggie black bean tacos but you would need to like black beans. Haven't had the beef ones, not a fan of ground beef. There was hot sauce available you could put on that was actually hot.

Just keep in mind that this place is typically only open during the very busy season. If you're going during the off-season you might find it closed.

We were able to eat there for the first time last year. We all really liked it.

We had a taco salad there that was really good. The toppings bar is fresh and loaded with, well, toppings.

I like pictures.

We like this CS but last time we were there they served the tacos in a fry boat (try balancing that while you are eating) and the kids meals were tiny. I could not find a picture but DDs cheese quesadilla was about 6" around.

As popular as tacos are around the U.S. you'd think they'd have it open more often.

We really enjoyed it but in my 8 trips to WDW, it's only been open once. I wish it would be open more often as well, since the QS options at MK are so limited IMO. I love Columbia Harbour House but it would be nice to have some other options.

Maybe we caught it on a bad day or something because everyone here seems to really like it, but all of us thought it was awful. We ended up eating there on a MSSHP night in Sept 2009 when they weren't technically supposed to be open. Maybe that was the problem. The kids (DS4 and DS3) refused to eat the food we ordered. After tasting their quesadillas, I can't say that I blame them. I ended up going to a cart and ordering them both fries. DH and I both ate the beef tacos we ordered, but decided that Alpo would have been a tastier option. The food was repulsive (and cold), the fixin's bar was a mess and the toppings on it were far from fresh. I don't really like Taco Bell, but it kicked El Pirata Y el Perico's butt. I can see why it's never open; it is foul. Sorry to all of you who like this place, but really, I'd rather eat the plate the foulness was served on.

I love The Pirate and the Parrot! We make sure to go every time it's open. It was open the 1st week of August last year so I'm hoping it will be open in 2 weeks when we go. See the link to my photo album in my signature for pictures.

I have never seen it open. But a friend of mine says it's the best CS in MK, and he's usually spot-on about food.

We ate there for the first time in June and we thought it was great. The toppings bar was great and the portions were generous. We will definitely eat there again given the chance.
