Is EE worth it in October?

I am planning a trip for the first week of October. We will be staying in a Good Neighbor hotel, so we only have on ee if we buy our tickets through ares. I found tickets on the gay day website substantially cheaper. We would say over $100, but no EE. I'm thinking EE isn't worth the $100. Am I right?

As far as I know, any park hopper ticket that is 3 days or more (someone correct me if it's 4!), purchased anywhere has one EE.

Odd.

Looking at the order form, they are comparing them directly to the regular, advance purchase prices....you'd think they couldn't do that, if they were significantly different.

Maybe yet again I'm talking semi-definitively about something I'm wrong about! Sorry!

In my opinion EE is always worth it, October is a time when quite a few schools in the LA area are on fall break, I know my kids are. But $100 for EE privilieges is something I would think really hard at, I'm not sure I would do it if I could save that much money.

If you have EE then DEFINATELY take advantage of it. The park is only going to be open until 8pm during the week days except Friday where its open until Midnight. So the more time you can squeeze into the park the better off your going to be.

I decided to get a package from Costco, so we will have the one EE day and all the other perks.

OMG, when we went last year, the Monday we arrived at Disneyland was some kind of unexpected last minute school holiday for every school in the LA Area. It took us THREE HOURS to get from the hotel in Garden Grove, up into the parking garage and down to the main gate. The line at the main gate went all the way to CA. UNBELIEVABLE. You could barely even manuever around inside the park, everything was packed wall to wall with people.:sad2:

This was our kid's first trip, and by the time we made it into the gate they were hungry, hot, tired and not really understanding why we were so excited to go to DL! :confused3 After making it through one or two rides, and a 2.5 hour lunch (at least 1/2 of that was spent IN LINE FOR FOOD) ... we finally went back to the hotel. It was a VERY good thing that we had 5 day tickets and could start all over again the next day! Do check those school schedules before planning your October trip ;)

We will be there the first week from the 1-5, I'm pretty sure that some of them have off for fall break that next week. Hopefully we will be okay. We've dealt with crazy crowds before, but I'm hoping crowds will be low for most of our trip.

One good thing is that you are staying at a Good Neighbor hotel. Which means you can walk to the parks, no waiting in traffic to get into the parking garage and then dealing with that hassle. Most fall breaks occur later in the month, especially around Columbus Day when many schools have a four day weekend. Of course the Gay Days event itself will bring in crowds but hopefully not to the extent an area school holiday will. Just get to those gates 30 minutes early, whether its for regular or Early Entry. Have a great trip!

As much as my gut response is to say "EE is always worth it & important", in your case I just don't think EE in Oct. is going to be worth the extra $100. If I were you, I would purchase Ridemax for $15 and pocket the other $85. Ridemax can help you to minimize wait times and still get on all those EE rides without too much waiting.

It is important though, that you get to the parks before opening. At least this way you only have to compete with EE'ers and other first wave guests. If you wait until mid morning just because you don't have EE you will find yourself in miserable long lines...

Just one devils opinion.

Oh lordie, please tell me we're avoiding any fall breaks for Oct 20-23.

I'm debating the EE myself. I can't decide to buy the tix thru DH's military office, or from AAA/DL advance purchase. On DL's website right now, they are promoing a 20% discount coupon on merchandise if you do their E-ticket purchase from at home....decisions, decisions.

For some reason I am not able to post the link to the Los Angeles Unified School District page. I get an error message, "Could not find phrase 'error_postcount_too_low..." each time I reply.

Anyway, I wasn't able to find too much as far as fall breaks. According to the calendar I saw, they didn't have any break in October, which I don't think is accurate. We are going in October too, and hope to avoid the crowds.

As far as when fall breaks are, my mom works at a high school in the Los Angeles Unified School District and they do not have a fall break. But we live in Santa Clarita (still Los angeles county but we are not part of LAUSD) and are in the Saugus Unified School District and my daughter does have a fall break the week of Oct. 8th. I know some out of state school districts have fall breaks but the weeks vary. So, LAUSD does not have a fall break to my knowledge.

I agree with SDD and say save the money and buy the Gay Days tickets without EE and purchase Ridemax. We're using the convention tickets in November and will miss one day of EE, but honestly I don't think it will make that big of a difference.

I know many AZ schools have the week of Oct 8 off for Fall break. I think you'll be a bit too early for the majority of Fall breakers. :thumbsup2

Forgot to add that our first day at DL was Monday, October 2nd. We were scheduled to be at DL for 4 days, and then added a 5th after the nightmare of the crowds. Have been to DL many MANY times as a child/teenager - this was the most crowded day we ever experienced. Definitely call the school district and find out if they are having that same holiday the first Monday in October. It was not on the school's original calendar.

I don't know about Fall Breaks - it all depends on the school district and there are way too many of them to try and research them all and figure out when/if the fall breaks are.

Your dates do fall on a weekend, however, so expect significent crowds on Saturday and Sunday - especially with all of the Halloween decorations
